Blanket Alert!!

The Supply is Low, Yet the Demand is High.......

Our blanket inventory is at an all time low, yet hospitals and shelters are calling in their requests. We need your help. We have bolts of fabric ready to be crafted into quilts, but we do not have any batting. And we are out of money. Could you spare $5? Or a roll or batting? If you ask each coworker for one dollar, you would be able to donate lots of batting for children's quilts. Please????

Project Linus delivers the gift of handmade blankets to children of all ages, infants through teens. What does handmade mean? In simple terms, a handmade blanket is one that is not manufactured commercially. There are a variety of handmade blanket patterns & projects available to suit any skill level from those who have no sewing skills at all, to those who would be considered Masters in the arts of sewing, quilting, knitting and crochet.

We like to have a variety of sizes on hand. For example, blankets could be as small as 36" X 36". The majority of Project Linus blankets are about 40" X 60", or what is called crib size. Blankets could be as large as 45"X 75" or twin size (64" x 75") for teens.

Our chapter is in need of larger size blankets right now, as we have a good stock of baby blankets on hand.

Single layer fleece blankets are great for summer. Double layer fleece are especially needed throughout the Fall & Winter months.

Whether they are made of fabric, yarn or fleece, all blankets need to be machine washable.

Please take special care to ensure that blankets are free of smoky smells or any chemicals which could jeopardize the health of the child.

Check blankets carefully for forgotton pins, and please do not use embellishments such as buttons that could come loose and be swallowed.

Here are a few patterns, projects and websites to get your creative juices flowing!
