HNNJ/CHCC/CCM CONNECTION NOTE!! This page has not yet been updated for HomeLink! For the purposes of CHHS (Christian Homeschoolers' Hybrid School, or just "CHHS" or "Hybrid") participants' awareness, pertinent descriptions of the CHCC (Christian Homeschoolers' Classical Co-op or just "Co-op") are provided here. It should be noted that the CHCC (Co-op) is a separate entity from that of the CHHS, and those interested in participating should contact the CHHS administration who can then forward interest over to the Co-op. A new component of the CHHS, as of Fall 2006, is the addition of County College of Morris (CCM) classes, exclusively for homeschoolers. Watch this site as more information is added during the Spring/Summer of 2006. HISTORY OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CHHS and CHCC PARTICIPANT POLICIES REGARDING THE CHHS and CHCC GOVERNING POLICIES REGARDING THE CHHS and CHCC COUNTY COLLEGE OF MORRIS and the HOMESCHOOL CONNECTION HISTORY OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CHHS and CHCC The CHCC has preceded the CHHS by three years; it began operation in the fall of 2000-2001. All purposes and goals of the CHCC can be found on the website, linked above. In general, it was the purpose of the CHCC to provide co-operatively run (parent-taught) courses for children aged PreK through upper elementary and lower Junior High ages. It was also a goal of the CHCC to then provide hired tutors for the bulk of the upper level classes (Junior and Senior High ages). During the first three years of the CHCC's operation, the focus and energies involved dealt primarily with the "cooperative" aspect of the program: establishing the scope and sequences, courses covered, and parents gaining their niches in teaching areas. During the third year of the CHCC, and looking ahead to the future of students there, efforts began to move toward the "School" aspect of the program. In the summer of 2002, in looking at what possible courses might need hired teachers in the CHCC, the Sciences and Foreign Language courses were amongst those thought to be most probable to require hired tutors. It was felt that if tutors were brought in for the CHCC, other homeschoolers in the area, not involved in the CHCC, might also desire some of the same tutilage. It was at that time that a survey went out to local homeschoolers to determine what courses homeschooling parents felt the need of assistance for at the upper levels. In reviewing the results of this survey, which indicated the Sciences, Foreign Languages, Math Courses, Composition and some Classical Studies (primarily Latin and Logic), it was proposed to the governing body of the CHCC to consider a trial "Hybrid" program which would be an extension of the existing CHCC program. POLICIES REGARDING THE CHHS and CHCC Due to the relationship between the CHCC and the CHHS and due to stringent insurance requirements, all participants of both programs need to be aware of certain specifics and need to agree to adhering to the policies below. In order to maximize safety and learning, all participants of both the CHCC and CHHS must:
GOVERNING POLICIES REGARDING THE CHHS and CHCC Leadership of the CHHS and CHCC: all issues pertaining to the CHHS only are run by the CHHS Board only; all issues pertaining to the CHCC only are run by the CHCC Council only. When issues overlap between both programs, both the CHHS Board and the CHCC Council will share equally in the decision making (issues voted upon with a majority rule). Each group, the CHHS and the CHCC will have a liaison which will act on behalf of their group along with the other. Obtaining teachers within both the CHHS and the CHCC: all teachers who will be hired in the CHHS must be interviewed by the hiring committee and proceed through all necessary interviewing steps (see Teacher Policies section of this website). All teachers obtained for the CHCC are done so through the regular processes of that entity, whether for pay or within the cooperative aspect itself. Management of the hired teacher: While some teachers may indeed teach in both programs, their doing so is dependent upon the specifics of each individual program. When the teacher is hired by and working in the CHHS, the CHHS administration will conduct the management of such teacher. When hired by and working within the CHCC, the CHCC Council will conduct the management of such teacher. Classtime common to both programs is 4th period, where some teachers are operating in the CHHS while others are in the CHCC, but again, each teacher is operating under the conditions of his/her hire. There is no such situation that a teacher is acting as an "overlapping" teacher for both the CHHS and the CHCC; he is either one or the other.
