TYPES OF FEES: There are four different fees involved in enrollment in the CHHS: Registration Fees, Building Use Fees, Administrator Fees and Tuition Fees. Each of the various types of fees are described below.

REGISTRATION FEES: Registration fees are to be paid PER STUDENT. The cost of this non-refundable registration fee is determined to AT LEAST cover the cost of insurance, accounting fees and/or other Registration paperwork: $50 per student per year. Late fees, postmarked beyond the deadline, will be charged an additional 10% per week late payment penalty until payment is received. In addtion, a $30 surcharge will be made on any checks which bounce or are returned.

Those persons wishing to enroll in the CHHS after designated deadlines must undergo the usual registration process (see Registration Page) and will be charged an additional Late Registration Fee of $150 (thus a total Late Registration Fee of $200).

BUILDING USE FEES: In order to pay rent to the gracious facility that allows us to come in each week, for many hours, the CHHS must collect fees specifically designated to give to the host facility. This non-refundable fee is collected up front, at the conclusion of registration, and is in the amount of $100 per student, for the school year.

ADMINISTRATOR FEES: Based on years of administrator experience since 1998, the current administrator is paid for overseeing the entire CHHS program. This fee is $125 per student.

PAY FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS: For the highest qualified teachers (Bachelors/Masters Degrees plus teaching experience), the pay is $30 an hour:
  • This fee information is updated for 07-08
  • For a one-student tutorial, $15/hr
  • For a two-student tutorial, $17/hr
  • For a class of 3 students, $20/hr
  • For a class of 4 students, $30/hr
  • For a class of 5 students, $37/hr
  • For a class of 6 students, $39/hr
  • For a class of 7 students, $40/hr
  • For a class of 8 students, $42/hr
  • For a class of 9 students, $43/hr
  • For a class of 10 students, $44/hr
  • For a class of 11 students, $45/hr
  • For a class of 12 students, $46/hr
  • For a class of 13 students, $47/hr
  • For a class of 14 students, $48/hr
  • For a class of 15 students, $49/hr
  • For a class of 16 students, $50/hr
  • The typical classes run 5-9 students, so teachers are generally paid $37-$43/hr for 34 wks*, 60 min/class, which yields an average total salary of $1258 to $1462.00 per class, per year
*actual HNNJ class time is 33 weeks; the "34th week" is determined for both the time involved in the Orientation Night at the outset of the year and the Recognition Night Ceremony at the end of the year.
PAY FOR EXPERIENTIAL TEACHERS: For the homeschool teacher who doesn't necessarily have the full professional training (minor degrees and other) but has sufficient experience teaching the material (in homeschool and preferably in co-op settings), earnings are half that of the professionally trained teacher (see specific amounts above).
TUITION FEES: Student tuition varies depending upon whether the class is taught by a Professional Teacher (PT) or an Experiential Teacher (ET).

TEACHERS' TUITION FOR ENROLLED CHILDREN: If a teacher has his/her own children enrolled in the CHHS, their children can go free in the class/es that they themselves teach but no reduction is available for their personal children attending other classes in the Hybrid.

MATERIALS FOR CLASSES: All texts and other classroom materials necessary for the class as per the Course Descriptions are the responsibility of each student and are not included in any CHHS tuition fees. Teachers are likewise required to furnish their own teaching materials.

TUITION PAYMENTS: Tuition can be paid upfront in one sum, or on a 2-part semeseter payment plan; due dates are available upon request. A late fee of 10% will be applied per week to all payments which are paid/postmarked past the due dates. In addtion, a $30 surcharge will be made on any checks which bounce or are returned.

REFUNDS: Since payments are made either upfront or on a semester basis ahead of each trimester, should a family determine for any reason that they cannot finish out the CHHS year, they have the option to finish out the semester since it is paid for, and no refund is necessary.

WITHDRAWALS FROM CLASSES:
  • Withdrawals: After class confirmations from parents have been made (and even from before classes start and throughout the school year), should a parent decide to drop a course, a $100 drop fee will be assigned for EACH course dropped. The reason for such a fee is that the Hybrid's securing teachers is based on the number of students desiring that course, determined by class confirmations.

Also, should a parent feel the need for a student to withdraw from a class once classes have already commenced, the first line of action is to determine what adjustments can be made on the part of the teacher, parent or student to enable the student to succeed in the class. If no such adjustments can be made or would provide optimal success for the student, then a withdrawal is allowed, still requiring the $100 drop fee. Parents are required to give a full reason in writing to the administration for their decision to withdraw. No refund or class credit is given unless the school itself is responsible for an inappropriate class placement decision.

TEACHERS' PAYCHECK SCHEDULE: Teachers will be paid monthly and it is their responsibility to file their own income tax payments quarterly. Teachers will receive a 1099 form at the end of the tax year for their earnings in the CHHS.
