This time we took the Staten Island Ferry across the harbor and past close by the Statue of Liberty to Lower Manhattan. We strolled along Battery Park and up Church Street to the Trinity Church. This church was there when George Washington was around. It was included in one of the scenes in "National Treasure". There was so much to see- Wall Street, Ground Zero, Little Italy, Chinatown, SOHO, the Brooklyn Bridge, Lower East Side, and the South Street Seaport. Yes, we walked! We ate at a small cafe in SOHO, shopped in Bloomies, H & M, and some cute boutiques. We learned a lot about budgeting and getting your money's worth. It is always a good time going into NYC. We started our day in Rochester, NY. Our first stop was at Susan B. Anthony's House- where we went on a tour of 2 houses. We learned about how the Women's Movement was started and the sacrifices the women before us made to give ALL of US the Freedoms we have Today. Susan B. Anthony would be Very Proud! Next we worked on the 4B Challenge for Our Gold Award. After dinner we went into CANADA, Yes, NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA It is absolutely beautiful at night. It has been 4 years since we were here before as a troop. The city was decorated for Christmas, just for Katie. Christmas and Holiday lights and decorations were everywhere. They even had Disney characters. We made it just in time to watch the fireworks as we crossed the bridge into Canada. What a way to kick-off the Holiday Season. The FALLS were absolutely Beautiful What would a trip be without shopping? Well, we wouldn't know because we were able to find an outlet mall not far from the Falls. The weekend couldn't have been more prefect. We even went into Rochester and we're given free souvenirs. Our troop's Annual Beach Party was held on Tuesday, June 24th at Island Beach State Park. We had a bonfire on the beach and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. We had plenty of food- snacks, macaroni salad, potato salad, cake, and of course s'mores. We had our Year end Awards Ceremony and would like to congratulate everyone for all their hard work this past scouting year. If you have any ideas for the next scouting year PLEASE send them on. Remember your friends are always welcome to join us. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!!! Great GREAT JOB At International Day. Your performance was fantastic. Everyone got on that stage like a pro. I received so many compliments on what a great job you did. They liked how each one of you represented a different American Indian region. Everyone worked very hard at the table, I didn't think we were ever going to get out of there. At the end the girls just kept on coming. I think we sold more from 3:30 - 4:3pm than the entire day. We sold Navajo Tacos, popcorn, juice, medicine bags, macrame bracelets, rainsticks, dreamcatchers, and we did facing painting and hair braiding. We all would like to thank Jillian for bailing us out at this event. Just before the performance we found out that we were going to be short a person for the show and there was Jillian. First, let's explain- Jillian was a registered member of our troop in the past and once a member always a member. She really came to our rescue. She literately learned the dance in minutes and threw on a costume and then we pushed her on stage and asked her to talk and dance. Oh, yes then she came back to our table and braid numerous girls hair. Thank You So Much! It is time for Early Bird Registration. Contact Susan and save $10.00 on your due for next year. You need to fill out the reg. form and drop off the $10.00 reg. fee to her by July 13th. Susan will be away on the troop's California Trip for the remainder of July. I would like to thank those girls, their friends, and family for helping out at the Service Unit's Bingo Night. California/ Southwest Roadtrip is just around the corner. |

On behalf of your troop I would like to express to you on how much you will be missed and that you are always welcome to join us on any endeavor. There is more to Philadelphia than Independence Hall and Betsy Ross. On Saturday, February 9th we walked the sidewalks of South Street, Philly. We did some shopping, well a little more than some but hey, we're young. We visited some unique art galleries. Not the usual- the building were the art- inside and outside. This trendy part of town is known for it's mosaic art. The Art Legacy of Philadelphia's Mosaic Mural Artist- Isaiah Azgar has been creating for the past 40 years. We went to see his true masterpiece "Philadelphia's Magic Gardens". He incorporated tiles, glass, mirrors, bottles, dishes, South American art into his creations. What a beautiful site. You can't go to Philly without have a Philly cheese steak sub in a cute 50's style diner. Thanks to Lindsey for planning this trip for the troop. Here are some important dates for the Fall SAT's. The cherry blossoms were beautiful. The wrapped around the tidal basin. We climbed to the top of Jefferson Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. We visited the Vietnam Vet Memorial, the World War II Memorial. We strolled passed the Washington Memorial to see the White House. All the Spring flowers were in bloom. We ate lunch at the Old Post Office Tower and then walked a few blocks to Ford's Theater and the Peterson House were President Lincoln died. We were able to make our way the the Aerospace Museum and the Native American Museum. The timing was prefect with the Indian Museum, they had a special exhibit of Indian clothing. And with our troop representing American Indians in International Day we got plenty of ideas. After a long day of walking and a little sunburn we headed home. What a beautiful day. |
We went camping down near Vineland, NJ, hiked through Parvin State Park in the rain. But at night we all went to the movies. It was a double feature- "The Chronicles of Narina- Prince Caspian" and "Indiana Jones- The Crystal Skull". What a great time. The movies did not get over until 2am. A true Success!!! Thank you to all the Families and Friends that helped out at our School Dance last night at West Dover. The children had a grea time and so did the adults. Kudos- to the wall men, the snack table ladies, the DJ's, the hall monitors, and the ticket table. What team work! We would also like to thank those of you who baked and are not going on the trip to California. Helping others is what scouting is all about. Let's hope we can host another dance.

Lets all work together to help protect our environment. And as a bonus, a donation will be made to the troop for our efforts.
