BLESSING OF CREATION - Sunday, September 28, 2008
The purpose of this service is to be "witness to God's and the church's love, care and concern for creation. As we recognize our mutual interdependence with God's creatures, the chruch's witness of stewardship is strengthened".
If you have not attended this service, you have missed a fun service. You're invited to bring your pets, plants or other living things to be blessed. This is a service that children "beg" to attend, so please bring your children, grandchildren, friends and others. If it should rain, the service will be held in Fellowship Hall.
FIRE FIGHTER'S SUNDAY - Sunday October 12, 2008
Service at 10:00am. All area fire fighters and auxiliary members are invited to join in a special worship service in a special worship service. Members of the
Green Village Volunteer Fire Department provide fire safety tips, along with a look at a real fire truck for the church school children. This is one of our Sunday School childrens' favorite Sundays. It always gives our children an opportunity to see how we "do" the word of God in the world. Everyone is invited to join together in a special coffee fellowship after the service.
UNICEF - October, 2008
The Church School students will not only be out for treats, they'll have their UNICEF boxes with them! We hope they will be brought back jingling! Start saving your extra change now; a little goes a long way. This is a wonderful way for children to help children.
We will also have a UNICEF box in Fellowship Hall for the adults to fill. Why not drop in the loose change you have with you each Sunday. You'll hardly miss it.
Remember, October is UNICEF month and October 31 is National UNICEF Day!

Collection site for new, unwrapped toy donations to be delivered to Weichert Realty Toy Drive.
CHILDREN'S PAJAMA COLLECTION - November - December, 2008
Last year our collection of pajamas for homeless children was so successful, we have decided to collect them again for an organization called "Bridges Outreach". This organization "bridges" suburban communities with Newark. One of the groups it supports is a YMCA homeless shelter for children. During the Christmas season, they are collecting new pajamas for homeless boys and girls between the ages of 0 - 18. Currently there are 170 children in the shelter. We have committed to providing 60 pajamas in the following sizes:
Infants (age 0 to 12 months) - An average of 20 in the shelter. Mostly boys.
Toddlers (age 2 to 4 years) - An average of 30 in the shelter. Mostly girls.
Children (age 5 to 9 years) - In this age group, we are collecting one boys and one girls pajamas in each size.
If you would like to donate pajamas there are some ways you can help:
You can buy pajamas for a child between the ages of 0 and 9 years. We ask that you wrap the gift and attach a card listing the child's age and sex (i.e., Girl - Age 7).
You can take a tag from Fellowship Hall with a specific request on it, buy that item, and return it to Fellowship Hall.
Don't like to shop? You can make out a check to the church and in the memo write "PJs for Children". We will make the purchase for you.
Feel free to attach a note or card for the child.
All pajamas need to be brought to Fellowship Hall by December . Bridges Outreach will deliver them to the shelter.

UMCOR maintains a corps of trained disaster response specialiss for quick reinforcements of national efforts, and keeps a supply of relief materials in warehouses for dispatch when and where required. 100% of you money goes directly ot the disaster area.
If you would like to participate in this work, you may send a check, payable to "Green Village United Methodist Church" and write in the memo area "UMCOR". The church will forward your tax-deductible gift.
