Since 1922, the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department has provided fire and rescue support to the community.
Currently the department has 40 active volunteer fire fighters and 36 Auxiliary members. Our Associate members, although not fire fighters, provide their expertise in areas such as legal, computer technology and fund raising. Members of the community are encouraged to volunteer.
The Green Village fire fighters drill every Tuesday evening and practice mutual aid with New Vernon, Chatham Township and Chatham Borough Fire Departments. The Fire Department invites you to visit the Green Village Fire House any Tuesday evening between 7pm and 9pm to meet the volunteers committed to serve you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
More Than Just A Local Fire Department
Green Village Volunteer Fire Department is more than just a local fire department. We are volunteers, but we are also friends, neighbors and family. We give our time freely and generously to protect you and those you love.
We provide you with well-trained volunteers, routine maintenance of our apparatus and up-to-date fire fighting and rescue equipment. You receive the benefits of the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department without the tax burden a comparably equipped, fully paid fire company would require.
We protect over 1,100 homes and businesses. We provide fire and rescue services for Chatham Township District 1 and portions of Harding Township as well as assist on mutual aid calls throughout the area. Fire fighters are present at automobile accidents, hazardous material spills, search and rescues, gas leaks and downed power lines.
We are just a phone call away. Just dial 911 in any fire or emergency and we will respond. We are on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - and that includes all major holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year.
