4TH OF JULY PARADE - July 4, 2008
Green Village Volunteer Fire Department members will be marching in Chatham Borough's Annual 4th of July Parade. The parade begins at 10:00am.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT - Tuesday, August 5, 2008
The Green Village Volunteer Fire Department will once again participate in the National Night Out Against Crime with a community barbeque beginning at 6:30 p.m. behind the firehouse. McGruff, the crime dog, along with Chatham Township Police will attend. Hamburgers and hot-dogs will be provided by the Fire Department. Members of the community who wish to attend are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share.

STEAK & LOBSTER DINNER - Saturday, September 20, 2008
The doors to this annual fundraiser will be open from 6pm until 9:00pm (orders will be taken until 8:30pm). Dinners include you choice of steak or lobster, french fries, salad, dessert, birch beer, beer, wine, coffee and tea. Steamers and shrimp cocktail will also be available. The children's menu (under 12 only) includes a choice of hamburger or hot dog. Take-out will also be available. To guarantee your lobster, the Steak & Lobster Committee suggests pre-purchasing your tickets, as lobsters will be limited in quantity. Prices are: Lobster ($), Steak ($), Shrimp Cocktail ($), Steamers ($) and Hamburger/Hot Dog (children under 12 ONLY) ($). A minimum purchase of $15 per adult is required. For pre-purchase ticket sales, please mail your check (payable to the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department) to Green Village Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 27, Green Village, NJ 07935. No pre-purchase tickets will be sold after 12 noon on Saturday, September 20th. If sending a check, please note "Steak & Lobster" on the envelope and mail no later than the Tuesday before the event. Due to a limited seating area, the Steak & Lobster Committee requests NO STROLLERS PLEASE.

GOLF OUTING - Monday, September 29, 2008
This year’s Annual Golf Outing will be held at Madison Golf Club. This is a day of fun and prizes for golfers as they raise money to support the Green Village Fire Department. Individuals or groups of four may sign up to play. The day culminates with dinner at the firehouse and announcement of prize winners. The cost is $150 per person or $750 for a corporate sponsor which includes a foursome and sign sponsorship. Golf sign sponsors are $250 per sign that advertise the entire year at the firehouse and all firehouse events. ICE CREAM SOCIAL - Sunday October 5, 2008
Kicking off this year’s Fire Prevention week, the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary is sponsoring an ice cream social. Additionally, fire fighters will be on hand to provide fire safety tips for the young and old as well as demonstrate various fire fighting techniques. The festivities are from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and the activities are on-going. We hope that members of the community will join us for this free, kid-friendly event.

QUILT RAFFLE - Sunday October 5, 2008

	This year's Annual Quilt Raffle Drawing will be held on Sunday, October 5th. The hand-made queen size quilt was made in the Pennsylvania Dutch country. Tickets are $(TBD) each with maximum of 300 tickets to be sold. The winning ticket will be drawn at 3pm. The winner need not be present. FIRE FIGHTER'S SUNDAY - Sunday October 12, 2008
Members of the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department will attend a special worship service at 10am at the United Methodist Church in Green Village. Fire Fighters provide fire safety tips, along with a look at a real fire truck for the church school children.

CLAY BIRD SHOOT - Sunday October 19, 2008
The annual event will be held at Miele Field, located at the end of Britten Road in Green Village. The event consists of you choice of Competition, Red Bird, Team Covey, Dead Mark with prizes awarded to the winners.

VETERAN'S DAY SERVICE - November 11, 2008
A service and laying of the wreath is held at the Memorial Stone on the green in Green Village at 11:00am.

TREE LIGHTING WITH SANTA'S ARRIVAL - Sunday December 7, 2008

	Santa Claus will make his annual visit to the Green Village Firehouse at 6pm on Sunday, December 2nd. Families can come and watch as Santa arrives by fire truck to light up the tree. Before going to the firehouse to visit with Santa, you are welcome to join your neighbors at the United Methodist Church in Green Village for their annual Hot Dog Supper beginning at 4:30. At 5:45 the group will walk from the church down a nostalgic luminary lit road singing Christmas Carols to await Santa’s arrival. After Santa lights the tree, he will proceed into the fire house to hear the children’s Christmas wishes. The children also receive a stocking filled with goodies. Complementary refreshments and cookies will be provided by the Auxiliary. The Auxiliary (in its 12th year) will be collecting monetary contributions towards holiday purchases of food gift certificates and/or phone cards for the Jersey Battered Woman’s Shelter’s clients and children. A basket will be available at the door.

EQUIPMENT RAFFLE - Tuesday December 18, 2008
The Green Village Volunteer Fire Department is running its annual 50/50 raffle with six drawings. The prizes will be based on a percentage of the gross proceeds (1st - 20%; 2nd - 10%; 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th - 5%). The purchase of a $100 raffle ticket enters you in all six drawings. With only 200 tickets available, they will be sold on a "first come, first serve" basis. Tickets will be available after September. To purchase a raffle ticket, please mail your check (payable to Green Village Fire Department) to Green Village Fire Department, P.O. Box 27, Green Village, NJ 07935 or call 973-377-7073 extension 1 and leave a message. If sending a check, please note "Equipment Raffle" on the envelope. We will fill in your stub and forward your ticket to you. The drawings will be held at 9pm. Winner need not be present.

GARAGE SALE - Saturday April , 2009
The Auxiliary of the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its biennial multi-family Garage Sale. The sale will be from 9-2 at the Green Village Fire House located at 529 Green Village Road in Green Village. A limited number of tables/space for rent is still available. Proceeds from the rentals benefit the Auxiliary for fire scene relief, training and community outreach. A wide range of items will be available - antiques, children’s toys, jewelry, housewares, books, clothing and much, much more. SPORTING CLAYS SHOOT - Sunday April , 2009

The annual event will be held at Miele Field, located at the end of Britten Road in Green Village. The event is a 100 Target Lewis Fun Shoot. The entry fee is $75 which includes lunch. MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE AND PARADE - May , 2009
A brief service and laying of the wreath will be held on the green in Green Village at 8:30am. Following the service, Green Village Volunteer Fire Department members will be marching in New Vernon's annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade begins at 9am.

FIREMATICS COMPETITION - Saturday, June , 2009
Come and cheer on the Green Village Volunteer Fire Fighters as they again participate in the annual Tri-County Firematics Competition. Nine fire departments compete for the fastest times in each of three events - the single hose, double hose, and the ladder. This year's Firematics Competition will be held in and will start at 11am.

BROADWAY SHOW - - , 2009
The Auxiliary of the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department is running a bus trip to see on Broadway. The cost per person is $ and includes a seat and a bus ride from the Green Village Fire House to the theater and return. The bus will leave the firehouse (located at 529 Green Village Road in Green Village) at for an curtain. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
