POSSIBLE IMPACTS OF JACKSON TOWNE CENTRE

1. This ONE project will increase Jackson's population by 25%!

2. Destruction of wetlands river tributaries, which protect and provide drinking water as well as endangered species.

3. Oils from new streets, lawn fertilizers, and other stormwater runoff will lead to the pollution of our drinking water and the degradation of the federally recognized Barnegat Bay, thus negatively impacting the fishing and tourism industries.

4. Private wells in the local area may dry and citizens may be forced to tap into MUA lines.

5. Increased flooding of streets and basements resulting from the encroachment and filling of wetlands.

6. Increased traffic accidents on our local road, especially in the vicinity of Exit 21 (Cedar Swamp Road) and the I-195 Interchange.

7. Excessive traffic within a still rural section of Jackson, posing significant pedestrian and vehicular hazards.

8. Possible road expansion and widening on Route 527 and Route 526.

9. Destruction of wildlife habitat, negatively impacting threatened and endangered species such as red-shouldered hawks, cooper hawks, gray treefrogs, pine barrens tree frogs, as well as native plants such as Swamp Pink, Mountain Laurel (NJ state flower), and wild blueberries and cranberries.

10. Loss of a historical Lenape Indian path (Fish Road).

11. The Towne Centre will provide services and benefits primarily for future residents while inconveniencing current residents -- for AT LEAST 15 years -- resulting in a lower quality of life for all.
