 Summer Safety
Troop 355 has been working on the Safety Award. Part of the award was to create a poster or informational packet for younger girls about Summer Safety tips indoors and outdoors. This includes pool safety, sun safety, and internet safety. Here is what they created.

 SUN SAFETY
Always use sunblock when going outdoors. Just because it is cloudy does not mean you can not get burnt.
Apply sunblock about 30 minutes before going outside.
Reapply sunblock about every two hours.
Wear a hat when going out in the sun. Your scalp can get burnt, which dries it out causing flakes.
 WATER SAFETY
Personal Flotation Devises(PFD) should be used. Younger children should use them in all bodies of water except the ocean (most bathing beaches don't allow them because of currents). Everyone should wear them when boating. +Floaties, inflatable tubes, or any other flotation recreation toys do not count.
Do Not play or run around pools.
Never go in the water alone.
Do not dive in shallow water. Signs will be posted in pool area or on pool telling you.
 INTERNET SAFETY
Don't talk to people you don't know. Example: Chat Rooms
Do not post inappropriate pictures on your myspace facebook or any other social networking page or send them to anyone (They get around fast).
Give your parents your passwords and usernames for e-mail myspace, facebook, or any other social networking page.
Don't add people you don't know on myspace, facebook, or any other social networking page
Computers should be in an area where parents can easily see. Kids are more likely to go on inappropriate sites if they know you can't just glance over and see. Don't have the computer in a special room or in the child's room. Dining rooms, living rooms, or family rooms are a great place.
Don't put personal info on the web such as phone number, address, where you are going with times or the school you go to.
