Service Unit Meetings 



SERVICE UNIT MEETINGS THIS YEAR WILL BE ON THE 2nd THURSDAY OF THE MONTH 7:30 p.m. at West Dover Elementary School on Blue Jay Drive

  • AUGUST 14th at 7:00 pm at the Ocean Service Center on Old Freehold Road

  • SEPTEMBER 11th from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Lori's house. This will be a drop-off & a pick-up night

  • OCTOBER date 16th at West Dover

  • NOVEMBER 13th

  • DECEMBER 11th at 7:00 pm.(Holiday Party)

    EVENTS

    Karen our Events Manager is looking for anyone who is interested in be part of a committee that comes up with ideas for Service Unit Events. The girls always enjoy these events. They get to meet other girls from their own area.

    Our first meeting was very successful. Please check out the Events Page for all updated information. Our next events meeting is Oct. 16th 7pm just before the service unit meeting.

    CONGRATULATIONS


    The Sugarberry Service Unit is had it's a Drawing for a $20.00 AMEX gift card for a troop who turns in their completed HUGS packets to Lynda Kennedy, our HUGS Liaison, by our October 16th Service Unit meeting!!

    Congratulations to Troop 48 for winning the $20.00 gift card.

    Thanks to all of the troops who turned their HUGS packets in on time! We had a total of 15 troops that turned their packets in! That is great!

    Remember: You can still hand in your HUGS envelopes! You can drop them off at Council or bring them to the next Service Unit Meeting!





     
    LEADERS MAGAZINE

    NOW the LEADERS MAGAZINE is now available online. All the news and information for leaders and other adults is in it.


    LEADER'S DAY


    We will be having a Leader’s Day Committee Meeting on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Ocean Service Center from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm.

    We plan to discuss ideas for the next Leader’s Day event. Any volunteers/leaders who are interested in joining the committee are welcome and encouraged to attend.

    NUT/CHOCOLATE SALES


    If your troop is participating in Direct Sales you need to secure a location yourself and fill out the proper form and drop it off at Council.

    Council is offering a NEW incentive for any girl that participate in Direct Sales. They will get a patch and a silver necklace.

    Remember, our Service Unit receives an incentive based on the percentage of troops that participate in the Nut/Magazine sale.....our goal is 100% participation this year!!!! Looking forward to a great Nut/Magazine sale.... Joan Foley Sugarberry SUPSC


     
    FLAG CEREMONIES

    The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore is looking for Singers,Pianists, and Troops to Perform Flag Ceremonies.

    * Girls of all levels needed *

    Some examples of special events:
    * Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Adult Recognitions, Awards Luncheons and Golf Outings
    * Chamber of Commerce dinners/luncheons
    * Special veteran commemoration events
    * Other community events which we are asked to participate in throughout the year

    HOLIDAY PARTY


    At our next Service Unit Meeting we will be having a Holiday Party. The festivities will begin at 7:00pm. This will be a pot-luck event/ bring your favorite dish.

    There will be a grab-bag. If you would like to take part in the grab bag all you need to do is buy a ten dollar gift, wrap it and bring it to the party.

    SEAT BELT POSTER CONTEST

    Break out those markers and dust off the paint brushes, it's time to enter the GEICO Safety Belt Poster Contest!
    GEICO urges all young artists to enter the 2008 Safety Belt Poster Contest to help spread the safety belt message and save lives.
    Deadline: January 16, 2009.

    You are invited to use their creativity to graphically design, draw, paint, color or cut and paste an original picture and message emphasizing the importance of using safety belts. Computer-generated posters are eligible and will be judged separately from hand-drawn posters.

    Four age groups, The contest is now divided into four age groups:
    * 6-to-8
    * 9-to-11
    * 12-to-15
    * 16-to-18

    And our computer-generated artwork category!

    There are eight GEICO geographic regions in the contest and entries are initially judged against other age-group posters from the same region. Computer-generated artwork will be judged on its own, not against other age groups.

    First-place winners in each of the age-groups from the eight regions all advance to the national judging. One national winner in each age group will be selected as well as one computer-generated winner.
