JUNE 2009 - Our year-end trip was 3 days in Acadia National Park, the first N.P. east of the Mississippi. It was a mere 12 hour ride, but included among other breaks, a stop at LL Bean in Freeport - a definate must see for any outdoors person!! Inspite of the unusually foggy weather in Acadia, we had a great time taking in the spectacular views of this island off the Maine Coast, once a summer resort to the Rockefellers and such. Although the fog prevented us from going whale watching, we sailed on a 150' schooner, hiked every cove and rocky ledge possible, shopped and dined in Bar Harbor, had a lobster and steak dinner at camp, and played mini-golf. Acadia is beautiful and a much recommended place to visit!
