Organized: October 26, 1938
Miss Birdie F. Adams In Roswell, New Mexico

The Mission Statement of the Society
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

The Purposes of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International

  • To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship.
  • To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education.
  • To advance the professional interest and position of women in education.
  • To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators.
  • To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to nonmember women educators.
  • To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action.
  • To inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.

    Delta Kappa Gamma Symbols

  • The colors of Delta Kappa Gamma are crimson and gold- red for courage and gold for loyalty to our members and to the ideals of our society.
  • Our flower is the red rose.
  • The keypin is the emblem of membership. It is a golden ellipse. Across the center are the Greek letters ÄĘĂ. Above them a wreath of laurel leaves symbolizes the distinction which those who wear the key have achieved. Below the letters is a cup which represents knowledge.
  •

    A Note From Your Webmaster
I have been requested to remain as your webmaster for another biennium. I accepted the challenge with delight since I enjoy doing this very much.
If this is to be your website I need your help and cooperation. If you see information which all the sisters need to be aware of please call their attention to it. If she does not use the electronic information please print a copy and give her a hard copy. One hard copy does not cost nearly as much as postage for mailing a newsletter.
I would appreciate hearing from you if there is something you would like to see in here or if you find an error which I need to correct. Remember, I am doing this for you, and it is only as good as you make it.

    1. Always identify your affiliation with Delta Kappa Gamma when recognized for an honor or when published.
    2. Develop an “elevator speech” as a brief description of the Society that can be shared with others who may not know who we are.
    3. Leave Society publications in public environments-- doctor’s office, school libraries, waiting areas.
    4. Publicize chapter projects/activities in local media.
    5. Recognize outstanding educators and publicize the event.
