1. As a member of Valencia Valley Kennel Club of New Mexico, Inc., I will strive to breed sound and healthy specimens of my particular breed(s) and refrain from breeding unregistered stock, and stock which would require a disqualification under the American Kennel Club rules applying to registration and Dog Shows.

2. I will not sell stock without true representation to the purchaser, nor use misleading or untruthful statements in selling or advertising.

3. I will comply with all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to dogs and with all American Kennel Club rules and regulations.

5. I will strive to maintain the highest standards in the care and health of my dogs.

6. I will strive at all times to demonstrate the highest standard of sportsmanship in all matters pertaining to dogs.

7. I will not maliciously degrade any member, his/her dogs, his/her breed(s) or kennel operation, publicly or privately.

8. I will pledge to help educate the public in the standard of my breed(s) and in all other areas pertaining to dogs where I have knowledge.

General Membership meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Los Lunas Elementary School, 800 Coronado NE, (turn north at McDonald’s, turn right at the first crossroads, the school is on the left).

~ History ~> of the Valencia Valley Kennel Club, Inc.

Over the years, individual dog people in the area had spoken of the need for an AKC sanctioned dog club in Valencia County. In January 1993, the first positive steps in that direction were taken. Working from a list of exhibitors with Valencia County addresses taken from other New Mexico dog clubs’ show catalogues, a committee polled potential members by phone and found a great number of persons who were enthusiastic about forming an all-breed dog club in Valencia County.

An organizational meeting was held on February 4, 1993, in the Los Lunas Fire House Meeting Room. Thirty-seven people attended that first meeting, where the Club’s name and colors (silver and blue) were chosen. A monthly meeting date, place and time were voted on.

The meeting of March 2, 1993, was similarly well attended. Those persons who submitted their applications for membership together with their dues before this meeting was called to order, became the “Charter Members,” and were privileged to vote for the Officers and Board of directors of the Club.

At the April 6, 1993, meeting, the first order of business was the vote to accept the Constitution and By-laws for the Club as worked out at previous meetings. As a result of a unanimous “Yes” vote, the Valencia Valley Kennel Club came into being. Club Logo Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma douglassi) The stylized horned lizard in the Native American tradition, inside a modified Zia sun sign that is our official state symbol. The horned lizard is very common in the area served by VVKC and is a fitting logo for our Club.
