Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. Parents, volunteer leaders, and organizations work together to achieve: Character Development, Good Citizenship, Sportsmanship & Fitness, Family Understanding, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service, Fun & Adventure and Preparation for Boy Scouts. The Cub Scout colors are blue and gold. They have special meaning, which will help boys see beyond the fun of Cub Scouting to its ultimate goals. The blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty, and the sky above. The gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer and happiness. As a boy begins the Boy Scout Trail, he joins other boys his own age. He can start the scouting program at any age from 6 to 17 years old. The Cub Scout program is for 1st graders through 3rd graders - Tiger cubs, Wolf scouts, and Bear scouts. After completing Bear scout requirements, scouts begin their Webelos program. CALL OUR CUBMASTER SARGE BENSON at 254-3822. A Cub Scout Den provides your son with a friendly group of boys his own age. He develops self-esteem while earning rank and recognition. In the den he will gain a sense of personal achievement for the new skills he learns. This is the 75th Anniversary of Cub Scouting in America. Let's celebrate the values of Scouting which has been weaving Timeless Values into wholesome, fun and educational activities designed to help parents in building character, good citizenship and fitness in young boys. We invite you to be part of 'The Positive Solution' that Scouting offers to both parents and boys in building strong family values, good citizenship, personal fitness and good character traits you can be proud of. This Spring we hope to enjoy several fun outings, including an April Campout with the boys and their parents, an Astronomy Night at Red Rock (with our brother Cub Scouts from Pack 221) and the Scout Expo at Lorenzi Park. Our boys will have a chance this summer to march in the Patriotic Parade on the 4th of July in Summerlin and we hope to have fun together swimming, bowling and having ice cream once a month during the summer. Please Scroll Down this Page and notice (on the left) our list of upcoming activities which we hope you and your son will enjoy and find to be an opportunity for closer bonding, for building self-esteem in your son, and the chance to interact with role models and fellow Cub Scouts. THANK YOU to all the parents and adult partners who have stepped forward to volunteer their time and to help the Youth of America.
| OUR APRIL CAMPOUT
Our camping program includes a weekend 'family' campout every April and October called "Fun With Son" at Mataguay Scout Ranch. $20 per person includes all the activities and food. We will enjoy tent camping in a scenic environment, with activities that include canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, a bb-gun range(under the supervision of a qualified Rangemaster), archery (also with a Rangemaster), and lots of crafts, skits, campfire stories and songs. And all meals and snacks are included and prepared for us except for Friday night. We also hope to enjoy campouts at Mount Potosi Scout Reservation and a campout at Camp Balboa (next to the San Diego Zoo). Our Webelos Scouts (4th and 5th graders) can also participate in the overnight campout the night before the Annual Scout Expo the 3rd weekend in April. Camping gives us a special opportunity to have fun, share meals, share a campfire, roast marshmellows, do skits and share laughs. Times like those will be memories you and your son will enjoy for many years to come. Savor them now while you can.

Leader Training We appreciate all our adult leaders and could not have scouting with out you. We also want the boys to be safe and under proper care so please take advantage of the adult leaders Training provided by the BSA Council. It is sometimes as easy as watching a video in your own home. Many trainings are conveniently held at the monthly roundtables, which are a great resource for all parents and leaders. Please see Tina or contact the Council for dates and times. |
Leaders Needed We are in need of Tiger Cub and Bear leaders. Any help is appreciated.
