PTSA WELCOME MEMO
Welcome to a NEW YEAR at Bellport High School!
Let me introduce to you the new BHS PTSA Board: I am Jacquelyn Schwicke, President for the 2008-09 school year; my Vice President is Barbara Graniello; Treasurer is Kim Swenson; Recording Secretary is Solange Bredy-Allegretti; Membership is Dawn Parker. The position of Corresponding Secretary is still open. We also need a student member and a teacher/staff member to represent these constituents! Our "webmaster" is Steve Parker.
We all have been involved in one way or another in "school life" for many years, and all have sons and daughters attending BHS. We look forward to helping all make the best of the years at Bellport High School!
Our first meeting is THURSDAY, September 18th @ 7:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m., in the East cafeteria. Principal Nelson Briggs will be our first "guest speaker", and give you all you need to know about the new year. We may also have Superintendent Ray Walsh attend to share his vision for the (near) future; we may have him at the October meeting- will confirm in another email. PLEASE plan on attending!
The first day of classes for all students is WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd.
If you have not received your schedule or welcome back envelope, please contact the guidance department @ 730-1607.

WOW! what a start to the new year at BHS! Please email me any events you would like posted and sent out to BHS students and families- we are an equal opportunity information center! Make the decision this year to GET INVOLVED!
Pick something that interests you, that you have the time for, and make the commitment to do it! PTSA has many opportunities for parent and student involvement- my next letter will give an overview.
Please do not forget to send in your membership dues; we do alot of activities at BHS, and most of it costs $$ for supplies, refreshments, food, etc.

Honor your student, a favorite teacher or your family; order a brick to be to adorn the atrium Top quality Cambridge pavers, engraved by hand by a local craftsman are being installed in the Atrium walkways. Not only will your purchase honor your student(s), but the money raised will support the matinenance of our Atrium with its koi pond, gazebo and fabulous plantings. Brick is 4" x 8", engraved and enhanced with black engravers paint for maximum impact and durability. Join the Bellport Diggers, a volunteer committee of parents and teachers (and kids) who are working to beautify the campus of Bellport High We are extremely fortunate to have a parent who is a professional landscaper and has agreed to donate time to help us move our project forward! The Senior Courtyard... is being revitalized with new plantings. We are looking to make this a FAMILY GARDEN with contributions from YOUR gardens! Donations accepted of plants divided from your garden; honor will be given to your family. What's next? THE VETERAN'S COURTYARD!
