 COC Dogs

Not all CCI puppies are destined to graduate. Some dogs get released for medical reasons while others choose different paths. These dogs are referred to as Change of Career (COC) dogs. This chapter has had some very successful COC placements: an ATF bomb-sniffer, Guiding Eyes dog, signal dog for a hearing-impaired person, reading dog, therapy dog, assistant puppy raiser and beloved (and well-trained!) family pet.
