CENTER STATE SAMS

is a local chapter of the National Good Sam Club. We are centrally located in the scenic Mohawk Valley area of New York State and make our home base at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds, Cemetery Street, Frankfort, NY. We have members from Schenectady to New Hartford and Roseboom to Fonda. Our membership consists of both retired and non-retired members.

About us -  We have camp outs on the first weekend of the month from May through October. November through April we meet at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds, Frankfort, NY, on the first Sunday of the Month at 1 p.m. We start our meetings with a pot luck and a little time for socializing. See the Calendar of Events to the right to see our scheduled meetings and camp outs. Anyone with a love for and interest in camping, regardless of whether you camp in a tent or a motorhome, is welcome to join our group. There are only two requirements - you must be a member in good standing of the National Good Sam Club and you must like to have fun!! Our dues are $10 a year due in January. If you love good food, making good friends, playing games, having a fun time or just sitting and relaxing by a campfire, then you will enjoy our group! You are welcome to join us at a camp out and decide for yourself. Use the contact box below for more info and someone will get back to you.

JULY BIRTHDAYS

August 11 - Ann C.

CAMP OUTS
A general over-view of our camp outs goes something like this: arrive whenever on Friday. The hosts will have a light supper waiting (hamburgers & hot dogs, soup and sandwich, etc.)on Friday evening. This will be available from 6 - 8 p.m. There will be a $2.50 per head fee for this and you don't have to participate if you don't want to. After supper is a time for socializing with each other. We will play games in the pavilion or someone usually will have a campfire going and everyone is welcome to attend. On Saturday morning we have a community breakfast put on by the men of the chapter. We usually have eggs, cooked any way you want them or Glen's famous omelets, sausages, pancakes, coffee cakes, coffee, and orange juice. New for this year is make-your-waffle with the waffle maker the club recently purchased. We charge $2.50 a head for this breakfast. Saturdays are spent doing your own thing, whether it be sight seeing, playing games, reading or just relaxing in the sunshine. Our chapter game is called "Gotcha" and is played very competively! It is a home-made board game played very much like Sorry or Trouble. We also have horseshoes, Bocci, Crazy Golf, Bean Bag Baseball and whatever else a member may bring. Saturday night is the big pot luck supper. We usually have a very large and tasty assortment of food so that no one ever goes away hungry. After supper, it's back to the games. On Sunday morning, we have coffee and whatever coffee cakes and leftover deserts from Saturday are contributed by camping members, and now we'll even have waffles. Everyone usually stays around until the last possible minute before check-out time and then it's off to home till the next month's camp out.
  JUNE CAMPOUT HIGHLIGHTS

Our camp out at Mountain View CG was so much fun that we decided to book again for next year. Although the weather was changeable, like true campers, we perservered! The men won the first bean bag baseball game and the second was called on accout of darkness. We will pick it up again at Royal Mountain. Everyone enjoyed feeding and watching the cat fish and the pair of geese with their three little babies. Mountain View is a quiet, relaxing campground and the owner, Bernice, is as nice as can be. Just like at West Canada, we had the run of the campground!
