 Saturday, March 28th - Cub Carnival & District Pinewood DerbyAt Sacred Heart School in Merrick. Carnival starts at 9:30am, Derby begins at 11am.  May 30-31, 2009 - Battle Ship Cove tripA visit to Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA is special. Spending an overnight on board one of the mightiest defenders of freedom truly is an unforgettable experience. The awesome size of the ship is dazzling! Experience firsthand what it was like to serve on board a Navy warship in WWII. The trip costs $55 per person and the $20 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT PER PERSON (that's $40 for scout and parent, $60 for two scouts and parent...etc....) is DUE NOV. 30, 2008.   Friday-Sunday, August 7-9th, 2009 Pack 590 goes to the Pequott Cub Parent Weekend!At Schiff Scout Reservation in Wading River, NY Parents & Cubs only, no non-Cub Scout siblings. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your Cub, participating in outdoor activities at camp. Meals are provided in the Mess Hall, just bring your tent & sleeping bag. Archery, swimming, crafts, nature & more! The theme this year is PIRATES $48 per person.

Friday night the 17th will cost $229 and Saturday night the 18th will cost $289($10 less than 2007!). You may book one or both nights. The rooms we have blocked off are called family suites (sleeps 6). They have two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, a small fridge, a wet bar, and a microwave oven.  Saturday, November, 2009 151st Birthday Anniversary of Theodore Roosevelt T.R. Pilgrimage Ceremonies, Guest Speakers, Free Refreshments, Scout Band, Rough Rider re-enactors and a short hike from Youngs Cemetery to Sagamore Hill. Picnic areas will be available, gift shops will be open as will be the T.R. Bird Sanctuary. Scouts must be in full Class A uniform. Bring a bag lunch. Free coffee and hot chocolate. Here's the detailed info.
- Plan to arrive between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM
- PLEASE TRY TO CAR POOL.
- Drop off Scouts with adult leadership at Young's Cemetery parking lot - Cove Rd., Oyster Bay, NY. This is next to the Theodore Roosevelt Bird Sanctuary. DO NOT DRIVE UP TO SAGAMORE HILL. After dropping off Scouts with adult leadership at
Young's Cemetery, you will be directed to drive to the High School
parking lot. After parking, you will be shuttled back to Young's
Cemetery to join your unit.
- Ceremonies at Young's Cemetery will begin at 10:00 AM. You must be parked prior to 10:00 AM. We cannot guarantee parking after that.
- The program at Young's should end at about 12:00 PM. Cubs and Scouts will be led by the Rough Riders on horseback to hike 1 ¼ mile to Sagamore Hill. There will be a police escort, EMT and ambulance following the group.
- The program at Sagamore Hill will start at 12:30-1:00 PM, depending on the number of participants hiking the 1 ¼ mile. If siblings or Scouts are too young, you may want to reconsider their participation. May want to bring a carriage or stroller.
- The program at Sagamore Hill should be over at 3:00 PM. At that time, you may participate in a free tour of Theodore Roosevelt's home, a free tour of the Theodore Roosevelt Museum or visit the Theodore Roosevelt Bird Sanctuary.
- Plan to leave no later than 5:00 PM so that you can be shuttled back to the High School parking lot.
- The Post Office will have a special booth in the Young's Cemetery Parking lot to purchase their special envelopes. These are different from the 'Official Boy Scout Envelopes.' The Boy Scout Envelopes must be pre-ordered and paid for in advance.
These are optional.
- Patches and pre-ordered envelopes will be distributed at pack night
- Please bring a bag lunch and drink. Pack, Den and American flags should also brought. Any den (if any) flags should
also be brought.)
- All Scouts and Leaders should be in full Class-A uniform.
- Please keep the area clean. Do not litter.
- Remind Scouts to be respectful at Young's Cemetery. Keep Scouts orderly and as quiet as possible.

 Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 - Veterans Day Ceremony10:45am at Klestinec Park which is that triangular piece of grass on Broadway across the street from the James Funeral Home and intersects w/Michigan Avenue. We should report in our Class A uniforms. The program should be about 45 minutes to an hour. Then join the veterans back at Post 1066 for some hot dogs & drinks. The American Legion supports our pack in many ways. Let's support their activities too!
 Friday, November 27th, 2009, Ten Commandment HikeA great way to work off the Thanksgiving bloat! It will take place in some place different this year. There are 4 different start times - 7:30am/8am/8:30am/9am. Click on the link below to register for your preferred time. The cost was $5 in 2008 to cover a hot dog lunch and a patch, or $7 in 2008 for walk-in registration. The hike will be an easy 4 miles or less. Scouts and leaders must be in FULL uniform.

 Fri-Sat, In Feb, 2010, Science Museum SleepoverIn February, we'll have another sleepover at the Long Island Science Museum in Plandome in February 2010. The boys will participate in a program to earn a beltloop or achievement pin.  Sunday, Feb 2010 Nassau Colisseum Check out the nastiest machines in motorsports when the U.S. Hot Rod Association's Monster Trucks roll into town.  February, 2010 Blue & Gold Banquet
We will honor all our Cubs who have worked so hard to earn their rank patches. Come join us for a luncheon at the American Legion Post 1066's hall in Massapequa. The theme is Feast of San Gennaro - a visit to to the sounds and tastes of Italy! We will play some games and have some fun! Each Den will provide a themed basket to raffle off. The highlight of the day will be a ceremony presented by the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow Ceremonial Team that will usher our oldest Webelos Scouts into Boy Scouting. Join us for this exciting event!
