Boy Scouts from Troops 189, 96 & 776 all helped out with snacks, activities & especially the campfire where the Cubs performed skits and songs. Every Scout & Leader got a special event patch!
The Gas Pump Water Relay was fun!
Scooter Races & the "Bus Stop Hop" Sack Races
The Boy Scouts were great leaders to the Cubs!

Memorial Day Parade - Monday, May 28 2007
Once again, our boys proudly marched in the Massapequa Memorial Day Parade. This was the second appearance of our Race To Scouting parade float that many boys and parents helped build. This year it shined with added shimmering decorations! This was our third year with a parade float. As we lined up for the parade, many other units were heard asking their leaders, "How come we don't have a float?"
Thanks to all the boys who participated.
The boys are bursting with patriotic pride for Memorial Day!

Loyalty Day Parade - May 6, 2007
Our boys proudly marched in the Loyalty Day Parade on Sunday, May 7, 2007. Amongst the Veteran, Fire & Police units, we stood out splendidly as the biggest Scout unit in the parade. Thanks to all the boys who participated. The Wolves & Bears did a great job holding the banner, while the Webelos Scouts dutifully carried the American Flag and our Pack 590 colors the whole way!
Thanks to AMVETS Post 88 for inviting us and presenting us with a trophy!
Saturday April 21st was Earth Day and our cubs did their part by cleaning trash out of the Massapequa Preserve at Mansfield Park. There were some interesting finds (a front door, propane tank, exhaust manifold, construction barrier, many baseballs & golf balls) and we filled many bags of trash. Then we went to Brady park for Hot dogs & drinks. Watch for our group picture in the local newspapers.
Great Wolf Lodge Trip October 20-22, Pocono, PA
The pack made a trip to the indoor water park at Great Wolf Lodge. Those who journeyed out on Friday afternoon survived torrential rain & closed highways to get there, but it was worth it. The park is awesome & the group rate was a bargain! A sign in the lobby welcomed our group of about 80 people and most of our cubmasters were there. (Not Cubmaster Rick) We played in the park on Friday evening and all day Saturday. Many stayed on Sunday too.
Our leaders relaxing by the wave pool (Not Rick)
Wave pool, water slides, tube rides and lots of splashing fun! We're already planning our return next year!
June 17th Inter-Pack Olympic Picnic
Our June Pack night was an inter-pack Olympic competition with Pack 96 from Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church held at Wantagh Park. There was a sack race, 3 legged race, plank relay, water relay, hula hoop race and a hippitry hop race. We competed for fame & glory while having lots of fun.
Thanks to all the Boy Scouts from Troops 90, 96, 776 & 189 who helped run the games and the ceremonial fire.
There were Pretzels, Popcorn, Bug Juice & Italian Ices for all the families.
The scouts from both packs performed some funny skits around the campfire. "Is it time for Putcha?" The scouts all received awards & everyone got a patch for attending. Our leaders have Olympic style! Thanks to Bonnie for the costumes. They beat us in the tug-o-war, but we'll get them next time!
It was a beautiful day & a great event. Thanks to all who helped.

Good Luck to all our boys!
Winter Trip to the Berkshires
The pack organized a ski & snow tubing trip to the Berkshires. Saturday skiing at Catamount Ski Area was sunny and warm and we enjoyed good skiing while the snow melted. Sunday's trip to Butternut Ski Area got rained out & we had to skip the snow tubing. The kids swam in the Holiday Inn pool both nights while parents relaxed! We'll try again next year!
Trip to Long Island Science Museum
The Webelos & Bears went on a sleepover at The Long Island Science Museum in Plandome. After a Geology lesson that earned them that achievement, they went for a hike in the woods and toasted marshmallows around the campfire. There was singing and a funny skit by our Cubmasters (Is it time for Putcha?), we settled in for the night. Next was an early morning beach walk and a quick breakfast.

It was another fantastic Pinewood extravaganza! Topped off with a visit by our local council women, All the boys enjoyed a full day of racing complete with electronic scoring and big screen instant replays! And the winner had to be selected with a show down! It was an exciting day. Special thanks to Andy Zuch for providing the technology as well as all our other volunteers, including the Girl Scouts , for helping to make our day run so smoothly.
At the Pinewood Derby Workship, The boys got help carving out their cars and polishing their wheels & axles. It was a good opportunity to pick up some speed secrets.
There were many great & imaginative designs. Every boy can be proud of their fine work!
Though only some won trophies, all the boys are winners. And thanks to the Girl Scouts for their help!
