ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM @ THE SCHOMBURG Center for Research in Black Culture featuring DR. JAMES AMMONS FAMU President
Sunday, February 17, 2008
FAMU Alumni NY, FAMU Administrators, Future FAMU Students and parents took over the Schomburg Center for Black Culture. As everyone started by viewing the gallery of great art, we moved down to the reception. By the end of the reception the hall was bustling with conversations on FAMU, alumni networking and great FAMU spirit. The group moved to the lower library to a standing room only crowd. Excitement filled the room as we commemorated our history and then hurt about the present. FAMU President Ammons excited the crowd about the might Rattlers. He noted the bright future, our great alumni and offered scholarships to qualified students. The rattlers were striking with energy as we energized the room. In 2007, Florida A&M University (FAMU) celebrated two great accomplishments: its 120th Anniversary and welcoming its 10th President, Dr James H. Ammons. And now, we look forward to celebrating even more for FAMU has been selected to be the “Tom Joyner School of the Month” for January 2008.
The Tom Joyner Foundation (TJMS) has raised over $55 million since 1998. The Foundation also boasts being able to assist every historically black college or university (HBCU) established before 1964. All scholarship support money raised by the TJMS School of the Month program is sent directly to that HBCU for its students. 100% of the proceeds raised through the end of January will count towards the campaign.
We ask that you join us, the New York Chapter of the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, as we raise funds towards the University’s goal of $1.5 million for this campaign. Contribute today!
