Group 14621 Community Association, Inc.      Founded in 1974 by neighborhood residents, our mission is to advocate for and to involve our community members in collective efforts to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods. By so doing, we enhance education, employment, housing and recreation opportunities for residents, and foster personal responsibility, understanding and appreciation of our diversity and similarities. Group 14621 is a membership organization open to those who live, work, worship, volunteer or own property in the neighborhood generally bounded by the 14621 zip code.

Take a walk in the neighborhood!  A new pedestrian bridge is now open, crossing the Genesee River over the RG & E dam at the middle falls. Accessible from Brewer Street, a landscaped pedestrian & bike path takes you down into the gorge, across the bridge, and connects with the extensive trails on the west side of the river.

Coming soon will be improvements to the pedestrian trail being built along the abandoned railroad through the neighborhood. This trail is already being used for walking, and lovely pocket parks have been planted at Collingwood and Navarre Roads.

Keep your family lead safe!
Most houses in the 14621 neighborhood were built before 1978, when lead paint was banned in the United States. Lead was added to the paint for a variety of reasons, and now families and property owners need to address the problems of deteriorated paint - which can cause irreversible harm, especially to young children. For information on resources to have your home tested, make needed repairs, or training, check out the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning website (see link).
  Supporters for Group 14621
Group 14621 receives support from the State of NY, Department of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR), Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), the City of Rochester, donations, and from our members. Group 14621 also receives support from United Way of Greater Rochester as a donor option, #530, and from fundraising events.

Group 14621 Annual Meeting
Join the Board of Directors and members of Group 14621 for our Annual Meeting and Convention, for a Community Coming Together. This will be a celebration of 33 years of neighbors working together.

Featuring a panel discussion, light refreshments and voting, this is also our opportunity to thank special volunteers and businesses in the 14621 neighborhood. Call 266-4693 for reservations. There is no charge for this event, although donations are accepted.

  Insurance issues in the neighborhood
Over the past few years, we have received an increasing number of calls from residents, many of whom have received notices from insurance companies informing them that their policy has been cancelled.

If you are having insurance problems, we would like to know about it. At the same time, if you have had good experiences, we'd like to hear that as well.

Block Clubs and Community Organizing
Group 14621 has many block clubs scattered through this neighborhood of nearly 36,000 residents. Some of these groups cover one street, while others include many blocks. Some groups focus on crime prevention and public safety, and others work to beautify their area. In addition, there are business associations on Hudson Avenue, North Clinton Avenue, and Portland Avenue.

If you want to find out if you live in an area with a group, or would like to start a block club or neighborhood watch on your street, call our office!

And watch for the community gardens as you drive through the neighborhood. Most of these gardens are coordinated by the block club nearby. For example, the planters at the corner of Hudson and Norton were adopted by the Dunn-Nester Block Club.
