Project 6: Redevelopment of Dunn and Buonomo streets

1. Who would fund the sidewalk installation along Buonomo Street where none exist now?

"According to the Charter and City Code of the City of Rochester, Chapter 3-3. Standard basis of assessment "The cost of sidewalk construction shall be assessed on the lots within the district of assessment on the basis of the amount of walk constructed in front of each lot." It does not appear the property owners along Buonomo Street have contributed to a fund to construct new sidewalks along their street. The property's are not being charged a "Sidewalk Snow Plowing" or "Hazardous Sidewalk" assessment.

If the property owners wish to have sidewalks installed as part of our project I have estimated the average cost per property to be approximately $1,800. This amount could be funded over several years to spread the payment.

At this time we do not anticipate installing a sidewalk along Buonomo Street unless the neighborhood formally requests it.

2. What type of street lighting system would be proposed for Dunn Street between Hudson Avenue and Northlane Drive?

The existing street lighting system consists of cobra head fixtures with metal mast arms mounted on RG&E wood poles. Since these wood poles are part of RG&E's system to deliver electricity to the houses along the street they cannot be removed. We are proposing to replace the existing system with a similar City owned system.

3. When will the sidewalk in front of 150 Northlane Drive be repaired?

This sidewalk was damaged by a utility or the City Forestry Division. It is scheduled to be repaired as part of the City's 2008 Hazardous Sidewalk contract.

I anticipate having a public meeting for Bremen Street (Norton-North end), Rau Street (N. Clinton-Seneca), Roser Street (Dunn-North end), Dunn Street (Hudson-Northlane), and Buonomo Street (Northlane-Baird) sometime in the fall.
