Guide to travelling in the United Arab Emirates - Dubai

The United Arab Emirates is enormous, with so many diverse cultures and things to see, it really is a great place to visit whether for pleasure or business. Here we concentrate on Dubai, and will offer you an in depth and honest look at what the different hotels, restaurants, and bars, have to offer. Special offers and new pictures will also be posted and updated from time to time. If you are travelling to Dubai for business or pleasure it is important, to choose a hotel that fits within budgets but which is also somewhere that you are happy to stay. The weather in Dubai is hot ! The best times of year to visit are from mid-September to the beginning of June where the temperatures are reasonable and you will be able to enjoy all the divers activities that Dubai has to offer. Between these dates the weather is VERY VERY hot and a lot of the businesses top people will leave Dubai for a while especially during August. If you are travelling to Dubai during this period please bear in mind the weather as lying on the beach may not be that enjoyable. Activities in Dubai such as sand skiing and surfing, plus wadi bashing (driving through water in the desert) are all great fun but are generally not available during the Summer months due to the intense heat. Having said that everywhere is air-conditioned so you will still be able to enjoy the hotel and the wonderful shopping that Dubai has to offer.

Dubai, city, northeastern United Arab Emirates, capital of the emirate of Dubai, on Dubai Creek, on the Persian Gulf. Dubai is on the western side of the creek; the eastern part of the city is known as Dayrah (Deira). The city was the residence of the British political agent for the former Trucial States from 1954 until 1971. Known as the Venice of the Gulf, Dubai is the chief port and commercial center of the United Arab Emirates. Oil drilling in the area has largely displaced the traditional occupations of pearl diving, fishing, and camel breeding. Until 1833 Dubai was tributary to the state of Abu Dhabi. Dubai is sometimes spelled Debai or Dibai. Population (1995 estimate) 674,100.
