Important deadlines to keep in mind:
April 24 Reserve your room at the Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs for the 2008 NYSD Annual Meeting, May 16-18, 2008 TODAY. The hold on the the rooms will be gone by tomorrow.
April 25 Get your registration form into Tracey Ainsworth by this date for the 2008 NYSD Annual Meeting in Saratoga Springs. See link to meeting's agenda on the left.
May 5 Respond to Audra Stempel about the division committees you would like to join. See the link to the Committee Preference form on the left-hand side.
July 7 Proxy forms for the International Convention need to be in HQ's office. Mail by June 21 to ensure delivery time.

MISSION To be the acknowledged, recognized leader of administrative professionals and to enhance their individual and collective value, image, competence and influence.
OBJECTIVE To elevate the standards of all administrative professionals and to promote their working relationships with management through continuing education, authorized programs and publications.

Results from the November 2007 exam are out! Individuals have been contacted as to whether they have passed or not. I won't get my list on who have been newly certified until later this month. Meanwhile, let me extend my congratulations if you are newly certified.
In case you are not, let me encourage to continue to work toward certification. You are on the path and will get there. Just don't give up!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE CHAIR- March 26, 2008
Committee members, Mary Aretakis CPS, Joan Depken CPS, Joann Liddy Pierce CPS and I, are busy reviewing the monthly submissions of chapter newsletters, which will bring to an end the 2007-2008 Newsletter Awards Program on March 31. It was a little disappointing, to say the least that all the chapters did not take part in this competition.
Being an IAAP member is a great way to keep up in today’s professional fields of endeavor. Members who take part in their chapter activities have the advantage of advancing their knowledge and skills. Working together, to meet whatever goals the chapter is willing to accomplish. Now, this is where a chapter newsletter comes in to play by bringing and focusing on these accomplishments and the members who are making it happen. Also, gathering information from IAAP, Northeast District, New York State Division and other outside sources. It’s a chapter newsletter chairman’s opportunity to report the news. Now, where else can you learn this trade?
It has been a privilege working on the newsletter awards program this year. It was a great learning experience reading the very informative news these chapter newsletter chairmen included; not only on their chapter’s activities, but on other interesting subjects as well. Each of them is to be commended for their diligence in reporting the various activities and updates in IAAP.
The time is drawing near to the NYSD Annual Meeting in May and then a new IAAP year, although I don’t know where the time has gone! It’s a start of new beginnings, new roles for members in the New York State Division and Chapters. Whoever decides to meet the challenge of chairing the NYSD Newsletter Committee will find it both educational and rewarding. Go for it by “Energizing Ahead… Moving Forward” and enjoy the ride!

The New York State Division Certification and Scholarship Committees are pleased to announce that the New York State Division Board of Directors has approved two awards of $100 each to members enrolled in CPS/CAP certification review classes between May 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008. The awards would be chosen at random at the New York State Division Annual Meeting in Saratoga Springs from May 16-18, 2008, from a pool of qualified applicants who produce the following documentation:
(1) Letter of recommendation from a faculty member stating the member attends class, along with confirmation of class dates and payment made;
(2) Letter of recommendation from member's chapter president, or in the case of a member-at-large, other documentation confirming membership.
Documentation must be received by the Scholarship and Certification Committees by May 1 to be entered into the drawing.
In order to fund this initiative and the Jane M. Klausman Scholarship, the Board has proposed the following fund raising efforts:
(1) Contributions in honor or memory of a member who is living or has passed. Contributions would be acknowledged, and in the case of those in memory of a deceased member could be sent to relatives where they have requested donations to be made to IAAP.
(2) A drawing for a home theater DVD/CD player with speakers to be awarded at the New York State Division Annual Meeting. Tickets would be priced at one for $5, or three for $10. To see a picture and a description of the unit, clock on "Home Theater System" on the left.

p>I had a great time in Kansas City with fellow incoming division presidents from around the United States including Puerto Rico. I'm getting excited about introducing the new theme/logo and reward programs for 2008-09 that will be presented at our Annual Meeting.
As your incoming Division President for 2008-2009, I'm asking for volunteers to join our team to chair division committees for the 2008/2009 year. Consider joining a committee since it is definitely a learning experience plus it will assist you in becoming an officer in NYSD.
