The regular stated meeting of Chenango Chapter #135 was held in its rooms Wednesday evening, March 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm, with WS Marjorie Sampson and WB Anthony Calisi presiding in the East.  The WM greeted 14 officers and members.  Several ladies wore Easter bonnets.  One was rather noisy!!

The chapter opened in short form.

On Role Call of Officers the following were reported absent:  Assoc Patron, Assoc Conductress, 1 trustee, Assist Marshal, warder, sentinel, musician, and the points of Adah, Ruth, Esther and Martha.

The minutes of the previous meeting were not read for information.

Under sickness and distress the following was reported:  S. Audrey Allis died March 23, 2008.  Calling hours are at Root funeral home on Thursday from 1:00-2:30.  Service is at 2:30.  S. Audrey served as Esther of this Chapter for many years.  The secretary has notified Grand Chapter, the Necrology Committee and will take the Star funeral piece to the funeral home Thursday morning.  WS Betty Moubray is sick.  A card will be sent to her.  S. Becky Burrows is absent as she brought her mother home from the hospital today.  S. Susan and B. Chris are in New Jersey with their daughter who needs their help.  A note was read from S. Peggy Moxley thanking us for the card.  She has an acute infection in the bone of her third finger.  RWS Shirley fell at home and has a very bad swollen and black and blue face.  We had the joy of B Bob Nesbitt being with us as he is working in the area this week.

The checking account balance is $1,345.67.

The DDGM’s Book project continues.  WS Bonnie brought 10 books tonight.  The secretary has chapter money in the amount of $57.50 to spend on books.  We will have met our goal of 100 for Greene Central School.  The extra can be used in Broome County.  S. Teresa and the secretary helped the Masons at the Easter Egg Hunt and had a great time.  An article, plus a picture should be in the Chenango American soon.  I have a thank you from the Master, of Easter Light Lodge, Wes Wilson thanking the chapter for the donation to help with the expenses and with the help at the Easter Egg Hunt.  He also sent a thank you for paying ½ of the LP Gas Bill.  We have received a letter from Adah chapter thanking us for the interest in the Car/Cash raffle.  Tickets will be sent after May 1.  The WP’s surgery has been postponed as he is battling an internal infection and undergoing tests.  The WP will attend the meeting of the Grand Matron to our District but will not be attending the dinner and has declined the offer of the chapter to pay for his dinner.   RADA products continue to be available on line.  At the last meeting I forgot to announce that S. Teresa turned in $70.00 from the sale of Candy Bars in the Village Office.  Thank you Teresa.  WB Dennis has agreed to cook the Purple Dinner on April 25 if I have everything ready to go in the oven for him when he gets out of work.  Workers and donations of food will be solicited at our next meeting.

The Walkathon in Olean is April 19.  The secretary will walk and RWS Shirley will walk as much as her body allows her to.  The secretary made the motion, seconded by WS Bonnie that the Good Of The Order tonight and next meeting be used to sponsor our walkers at the Walkathon.  Carried.
