Minutes 02/09/11 February 9, 2011 The regular stated meeting of Chenango Chapter No. 135, O.E.S, was held in its rooms on Wednesday evening at 7:00 o’clock with RW Roberta Brundege, WM and RW Lou DeMott, WP presiding. The Chapter opened in short form and the WM greeted 18 officers and members. On Role Call of officers, the following were reported absent: 2 trustees, musician, sentinel, and the point of Electa. Sickness, Distress and Joy: It was reported that Lois Bittinger is not doing too well. S. Secretary reported that RWS Pat Berg, member of Trinity Star chapter, would possibly come home from the hospital sometime this week. She has been in the hospital another 5 weeks. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The WM gave a report on the presentation of RW Julia VanDenburg’s 70 year pin. The Secretary sent pictures of the event around and then read a thank you note from Julia. It was a truly a memorable experience. The chapter was well represented at the DDGM’s craft day and making of corsages. Several from the chapter will be attending BC Stars on February 20 at Round Hill. S. Secretary will make reservations. Dinners for our members at the Grand Matron’s visit were discussed. On a motion by WS Bonnie Cobb and second by RW Tony Calisi, and carried, the chapter will pay for 8 members to attend the grand matron’s dinner at $30.00 each. This would be a total of $240.00. Please see S. Secretary to make your reservation and dinner choice. WS Bonnie Cobb reported on the Secret Pal project. She has slips for each member that would like to participate. These slips to be filled out with name, address, birth date, hobbies, favorite color, etc. and given to RWS Shirley, who will keep the records. Secret Pals will be revealed at our Christmas Party. No One signed up to go to Otseningo Chapter on February 14, honoring the point of Electa. NEW BUSINESS The WM announced the exciting news that Chenango Chapter has been given the OK from Grand Chapter to hold our 100 years celebration in 2011. There will be a brainstorming planning session for celebration at 6:00 on February 23 for all to attend. The WM explained the assessment of the B/C District percapita. This fund helps fund the Grand Matron’s visit to our district. The assessment is $1.75 per member or a total of $92.75. She also explained the assessment per chapter of $30.00 for gifts for the visiting grand line officers from the BC district line officers, which is $30.00 Wearing the hat of the DGL, The WP explained the Broome Chenango district annual Journal. On a motion by WS Bonnie Cobb, second by WS Carol Sue Rosenkrantz, the chapter voted to take out a full page ad in the journal at a cost of $30.00 A communication was read from
Lester Stockwell, a member of the Camp Turk Board, soliciting support
for youth to attend S. Joan Crumb announced that the annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by Eastern Light Lodge and Chenango Chapter will be held on April 16. The Chapter is invited to help. S. Teresa and S. Joan volunteered to help. On a motion by RW Tony, and seconded by S. Teresa, the chapter voted to pay for one half of the candy for the Eastern Egg Hunt. Wearing his DGL hat, the WP read a
request from Harry Tyson, Assoc Grand Patron, who is requesting from each
chapter the name of any active military who are related to OES sisters and
brothers and what activities we do in
regard to the Veterans Fund in our chapter.
The chapter gave the names of RW Tony’s nephew, USAF, the grandsons of
RW Shirley and RW Vonnie, Tyler in the Marines and
Joshua in the US Coast Guard. Also the brother of S. Connie, Wilson Cazer,
US Coast Guard. We donate
money to the veterans affairs and lap robes are taken
to the Veterans Home in COMMUNICATIONS: A thank you was read from the Shriners Hospitals for Children for the donation of $100.00 in memory of Wes Wilson. A thank you from the WH Alberry Society for the donation of $100. An invitation to the Official Visit of the MWGM in the Richmond District. BILLS OF THE EVENING: Susan Hill – Dist Per Capita and Gr Line Officers gifts $122.75 Grand Lodge B/C District Journal full Page Ad 30.00 Total $252.25 RW Tony received the attendance award. The WM reminded us that there is a really nice gift awaiting the person with the best attendance at the end of the year. Five Past Grand Officers, 4 Past Matrons and Patrons and 1 present patron received Grand Honors. Each person present received a valentine from the WM as she read “Valentines Day “Tidbits”. Thank you Worthy Matron. The WP said he was prepared to be “A fountain of information” this evening but no one tested him! He is disappointed!. WS Bonnie
presented information about an escorted Bus Trip to Mount Rushmore, the RW Marion
announced that on March 13 Zeukelia, Daughters of the
