WALKING:
Walking can add minutes to your life.

This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60.. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where the heck he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

~ O.E.S. CAMPUS NEWS ~
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
This letter is an invitation to your spirit of volunteerism. As you are aware, the need for volunteers is ever present in many work places. The Eastern Star Campus is privileged to have dedicated people as part of their “volunteer team”. Such volunteers have enabled Eastern Star to serve residents of the Campus in a variety of meaningful ways with some cost effective results as well.
As Volunteer Coordinator, I strongly appeal to any of you who can share their time through volunteer service at our facility. Opportunities include working in our Gift Shop, assisting with recreational functions and outings, 1-1 visiting, in-house transport of residents to and from Physical and Occupational Therapy, the Beauty Salon/Barber, monitoring or assisting with fundraising events, sharing of your own personal talents and much more.
Facing volunteer challenges with Eastern Star membership backing is always encouraging. Won’t you please consider joining our volunteer “team”? We also offer a Mileage Reimbursement Program.
Feel free to contact me for any information you may want or need at (315) 736-9311, Ext. 301; Tuesday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. I hope to hear from you soon.
Respectfully,
Dina Weimer, Volunteer Coordinator

Dear Members,
Just a quick note to say a formal thank you to all of you who have made lap robes for our residents here at the Home. They are very much appreciated.
It was suggested that we let you all know, for the resident to benefit the most by the lap robes, they should be made with a width of approximately 38” and a length of approximately 46” and with a tight crochet or knit. If the robe is too small, it doesn’t cover their lap and legs for added warmth; if it is too big, they will get caught in their wheelchairs or they may trip on it and fall; and if they are loosely crocheted or knitted with holes, they do not keep the resident warm from any drafts.
Again, thank you.
Cindy A. Eckerson
