| BONAC ON BOARD TO WELLNESS FOOTRACE
OMAC continued to co-sponsor the Bonac On Board To Wellness 5K Race/Walk. It was held Wednesday, May 23rd in 2007(May 21st this year). The weather was just fabulous. The course was clean and well managed. The participants were the nicest people ever. The timing results were almost instantaneous, including web-access within an hour of race finish. In 2007 there were 777 registered runners/walkers lined up for the race. More were registered, though some did not show, others participated without registering, hence not in the race results. If you want to gauge your progress next year, it's best to register. Following the race there were refreshments, games and awards. To see the results, click on to the first link under RACE RESULTS & OTHER LINKS to the left. Barbara Tracey and Ginny Reale, continued to be the force behind this race. They receive wonderful support from school administration and the community. The entire school turned out to participate. Fantastic! We could not improve on the weather. Any other suggestions for improvement or other comments would be welcome. Please email us below.

OMAC MEETINGS: OMAC meets the third Sunday of each month at rotating locations. These are generally dinner or pre-dinner meetings. We plan, follow-up and follow-through on our events and other activities. In addition to our organizational matters these meetings are the time requests for underwriting of teams, individuals and sponsoring of events takes place. We also have an annual, post-season party for all members. Please fill in the contact information below if you want notification of these meetings or any of our events. Let us know if you are interested in becoming a member. |
OUR MISSION: Part of OMAC's mission is to promote and nurture active recreation. We have done more than hold, sponsor and underwrite group, school and individual athletes and ahtletic events. We have attempted to raise public awareness to the importance of sports and athletics in a healthy society. We have helped with committee work on the East Hampton Town Comprehensive Plan. We are continuing to urge the Town to complete each phase of this plan and lending our resources where possible. We have attended Town meetings, sometimes in force, to urge the creation of public spaces for the various sports uses. The fields off Stephan Hands Path are just one result of the Town responding to such needs. The YMCA has become an official partner with us on swimming and track programs. We believe that we have made a positive difference.

Ocean Rescue joined us for the festivities. They gave an award to Robin Streck for her dedicated efforts on their behalf. Andrew Neidnig received OMAC's 2006 Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award.
