EVERY SCOUT DESERVES A TRAINED LEADER
Three Steps to Training
  1. Fast Start
  2. New Leader Essentials (same for all programs; take just once), Youth Protection, and Position Specifics (Basic) Training, for your program.
  3. Supplementary and Advanced Courses: such as University of Scouting/Pow Wow, Baloo, Safety Afloat and Wood Badge. Take Trainer Development Conference to train others!

Be sure to notify your Pack Trainer of any courses you wish to take or have taken.

Finger Lakes Council Youth Protection Policy

  • All Adult leaders who work directly with youth must be trained in youth protection.
  • The Finger Lakes Council, BSA requires two-deep leadership for all Scouting activities that consists of two registered adults, one of whom must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Each leader upon completion of the course will receive a certificate good for 2 years.
  • Anytime you get an abuse allegation, whether you believe it to be true of false, it's your responsibility to report this to your Scout Executive. It's not your job to determine truth or judge the situation. The authorities will conduct the investigation and reach an informed conclusion.
  • If you believe the Scout's story to be untrue, this information could be used during the investigation. The important thing is to never take matters into your own hands.
