Why are we called the Royal Purple Rubies
you might ask.
Alida and Regina sat for hours
working on this task.
The first word took us a great deal of time.
Friendships are magnificent,
splendid, great and fine.
Royal describes these qualities in
friends we seek.
We want our bonds of sisterhood
to be powerful not weak.
Purple is the blend of the color
of blood and blue.
Honesty, trust, and compassion
are a must to stay true.
Imperial and elaborate are the
meaning of the color.
Together we will be there always for each other.
Rubies are precious gems that are valued high.
This is how we feel about our friends by our side.
Each one of us are rare,
beautiful and one of a kind.
We can create anything with joining our minds.
In our red hats and purple clothes
we will experience the world.
Because deep down we are all still
just little girls.
As the Royal Purple Rubies
we will go out and have tons of fun.
We can skip, we can sing and play in the sun.
We will giggle and dance and tell funny jokes.
Together we will grow into crazy old folks.
So for now my friend lets enjoy our days.
Life is to short and time will slip away.

*****WHO WE ARE***** We are a dis-organization of women who love to have fun! We are a play group for grownups! We are taking the time in our lives to treat ourselves to be happy and take care of "ME" for a change. We are living a rich life filled with friends and laughter. We go out dressed up in our colors and strut our stuff. Our goal always is to have a blast. There really is not one definition for what the Red Hat Society is all about, but one thing for certain is we are a bunch of gals who know how to have a good time. It is a sisterhood of gals that want to enjoy life. The Royal Purple Rubies is a chapter made up of pink hatters (ladies under fifty) and red hatters. We range from age 25 to 77 and there is not an old lady in the bunch. We have an honorary 91 year old named Carrie who jokes she does not want to commit in case something better comes along the day of one of our events. We don't want no old grouchy ladies. We at least get together once a month but we get invited to many events, some months it can be five times we go out and play. We go on trips, play games, laugh, eat, dance, sing, see plays, shop whatever tickles our fancies. Everyone gets to pick and choose what fun they want to have and pay as you go. The only rule we have is if you are over fifty you need to wear a RED hat and PURPLE clothes to all events. Under fifty you wear a PINK hat and LAVENDER clothes. I know you just said "where do I get purple from". Trust me now that you know about red hats that will be the first color you see in the stores. In the true spirit of Red Hat Sisterhood I hope you go out and find a chapter you love to be in and enjoy. If not start your own chapter.
How We Got Started
Alida and I were in Applebees to discuss our trip we were going on in a few weeks to Italy ,when we saw all these red hats. We sat down with them right away and wanted to learn more. They told us to go on line to find a chapter near us. Well after contacting many chapters and getting no where we decided to start our own when we returned from Italy. How hard could it be I do girl scouts. I decided to be Queen because Alida has her hands full in life right now (God Bless her). I looked on the Queen mother's board and decided to have a tea party in June of 2004. I sent out invitations and was on my way. About 30 showed up and 15 joined. We ate til we burst, laughed until we cried, and had fun playing games. I enjoyed seeing every one's face as they learned how nutty I truly am. But it was great having all my friends around me. I knew that day it was going to be a fun, wild ride and the rest is history.
Thank God for Angels on Earth
Now I am Queen of this new chapter(born to do this my name means Queen Red literally) and I need to get things going. I knew I had to do some research. Well God sent me two angels to get me started. The first angel to find me was Louise Virgilio known as Lady Chapeaux of the Crimson Red Hatters www.orgsites.com/ny/crimsonredhatters . I drove her crazy with a million e-mails the first day. The next darling angel was Elaine Meyer-Syrkin Queen Mother of the North Fork Fine Wines. These ladies answered all my thousands of questions and got me going. They helped me with all my worries and guided me through it all. Thanks Ladies you are such sweethearts and mean the world to me. I could not have done it without you. Red Hat Vow Please place your right hand on your hat, and your left hand on your pocket book and raise your big toe. I ___________________ do solemnly swear on my "red hat" that I will do my best to uphold the spirit of the Red Hat Society. I greet this age of "mental pause" with verve, humor and fun. I take my silliness seriously, as it is the comic relief of life. In the Spirit of Friendship and Sisterhood, I join my Red Hat and Pink Hat sisters as we go for the Gusto Together! Beneath our frivolity we share a bond of affection, common life experience and a genuine enthusiasm toward the future. I promise to regularly practice having fun, do those things I have waited to do while I paid my dues in life, and wear jewelry til I fall over. I promise never, ever to wear knee highs with sandals and to dispel the notion a Woman My Age is OLD! This I pledge in the spirit of the Red Hat Society as envisioned by the Exalted Queen Mother - Sue Ellen Cooper - and with my fellow Royal Purple Rubies

Probably the most common question about the Red Hat Society is "What do you do?". Whatever we want to! There are no rules. We do what makes us happy and what we have fun doing. This can take many forms and I ask my gals to contribute to planning the Happy Events. Here are a few of the things we enjoy doing. Having lots and lots and lots of fun!!!! Playing dress up and going out in our full red and purple regalia for all to admire. Being silly, laughing really loud and making new friends. We forget our worries for the time being and let our inner child come out and enjoy life. Life is way to short not to being loving what you are doing and do what you love.
EVERYONE MUST PLAY NICE!!!
What we don't do! We don't come to cry about all our troubles at our get togethers. We don't treat each other badly. We don't never, ever refuse to wear our hats and colored shirts to events. We don't act rude in public(having a blast and acting rudely are two different things) We don't disrespect the house or facility we are in. We don't try to make any profit off our fellow Rubies. We don't just show up with friends, kids, or family without checking with the Queen. MOST IMPORTANT We must never grow old and stop having the time of our lives.
Royal Decrees because I am Queen and I said so!!
Officially there are no rules in the Red Hat Society. Each chapter makes up their own way of doing things. For the Royal Purple Rubies, the way of doing things can be voted on if everyone does not agree on things. Just state the problem or change you want made and it can be voted on. If it can not be settled in that manner, me the Queen has the end decision. In the mean time I made up the decrees for the best interest for all of my Rubies.
These are my Royal Decrees for our chapter. 1)The proper colors must be worn by all members to all events. If you are 50 or over your colors are Red Hats and Purple Clothes under 50 you wear a Pink hats and Lavender clothes. Black, khaki or denim pants/ skirts are acceptable as long as the tops and hats are the right colors.
2) HATS ARE NOT OPTIONAL!!!YOU MUST WEAR THEM!!!!!!!! The first mis- guided soul who tries to attend an event without her colors and hat will be brought to the dungeon and OFF WITH HER HATLESS HEAD!!!!! The Queen has many excellent avenues to find hats if you are in need. Go to Walmart for Pete's sake.
3) Each member can wear boas, gloves, all kinds of tacky jewelry you can find, bright red lipstick, what ever makes your inner child dance please wear.
4) Each member of the Royal Purple Rubies will choose a title for herself. You can deem yourself Empress, Baroness, Duchess, Princess, Countess, lady, Dame, Mistress But Not Queen, I am the only queen in this group Please make up a title that suits you. It can be something that pertains to your hobbies, favorite things to do, eat, go to or something you always wanted to be.
5)Each gal has to help plan an event. I am good but I can't do it all. You will plan, send out emails to everyone, collect money, whatever is needed.
6) We will start this year collecting dues of ten dollars for the year. This is to cover registration, postage, prizes etc. If we need more we will let you know.

The OFFICIAL Royal dessert of the Royal Purple Rubies has to be gooey, moist, chocolate, fudge brownies. Why because I am the Queen and I said so.
