Ira Ross Eye Institute

The Ross Eye Institute is a unique collaborative effort among its benefactors, the Lions Clubs, the University at Buffalo (UB), and medical personnel.

The Ross provides diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services for a large number of patients. It serves as a research center for diseases of the eye. The Ross provides education to medical personnel, in addition to students through the Department of Ophthalmology at UB.

The facilities include comfortable waiting areas, laboratory space, the Lions Diagnostic Imaging Center, examination rooms, and offices. The Lions Diagnostic Imaging Center contains state-of-the-art equipment for the use of Ross personnel for research and patient evaluation.

The on-site Spec Shop provides a handsome variety of eyewear. A large separate pediatric waiting room testifies to the additional focus on children’s eye problems. Examination rooms, meeting rooms, instruction areas, records rooms, and offices make complete the facility.

Lion Dr. James Reynolds, the Chair of the UB's Department of Ophthalmology, serves as the CEO of the Ross Eye Institute.
