ABOUT SPRINGFIELD Springfield AAUW was founded in 1927, making it one of the early branches in the State. Over the years, AAUW has been active within the Springfield school system and the community.

The branch currently meets on the third Monday of each month, usually from September through May,but this year we will be meeting throughout the summer to plan and prepare our new branch for the 2010-2011 year.

Beginning with our branch meeting on September 20, the branch will meet at the Wittenberg Coop House, 712 N. Fountain Avenue at 6:30 PM.

The branch has made significant strides in becoming an active branch. We have speakers and events planned to March, 2011. We have updated our non profit status and thanks to our super efficient and diligent treasurer, Joyce Spangler, we have cleaned up our books. By the end of August, we should have approved our new branch bylaws for both state and national and will have sent them to the resepctive offices.

The branch also plans to raise our exposure to the local community by participate in Springfield's Culture Fest in Spetember and at Wittenberg University's Passport to Springfield program in August, with more participation in both future events and fundraising planned.

Our Open House on Wednesday,August 4 was a huge and wonderful event. We had 9 women attend, including a college student! Our Rsvp's indicated that only about 3-4 were coming, so we were delighted. What a diverse group of women- from retired educators to collge professors and a community college President. Our branch women outdid themselves with a delectable array of desserts and snacks. The American Association of University Women advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. AAUW, founded in 1881, is open to all graduates who hold an associate's or higher degree, including RN's, from a regionally accredited college or university. In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership.

There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of race, gender, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class. By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so all women have a fair chance. Membership is not by invitation. Guests are welcome at all Branch meetings and special Interest Groups.

Membership dues for 2010-2011 will be $70.00. Please contact Joyce Spangler (topeditor@yahoo.com) for details.

Please contact Tammy Proctor for information regarding membership -937-323-9974.
