Article 1: Intervention Strategies for Students with ADHD
In this article it states many interesting facts such how 3 to 7 percent of kindergarten to 6th grade students has ADHD in the United States. Also how boys are three times more likely to have ADHD then girls. The article goes into depth about ADHD has some effect on genetics. Also on some characteristic of a student that have ADHD and explains they may have academic and social issues. The most effective treatment for ADHD is medication such as Ritalin, Concerta, Metadate, Dexedrine, Adderall, etc. This article was very helpful and had many informative facts about things to do with an ADHD student. DuPaul, George J.; White, George P. “Intervention Strategies for Students with ADHD.” Principal, v. 85 issue 2, 2005, p. 26-29.
Article 2: How Should We Evaluate and Treat ADHD in Children and Adolescents?
Some things this article talked about was, children who should be tested for ADHD. It explained that children aged 5-18 year olds who exhibit inattention impulsivity, academic underachievement, or behavior problems have the potential to have ADHD. All ADHD patients should be screened for comorbid psychological, developmental, and psychiatric problems. This article discussed how comprehensive screenings should be used rather than diagnostic studies. The comprehensive screenings check for symptoms of ADHD, impairment, and comorbidity. Another main thing the article stated was, the best treatment for ADHD seems to be medication and behavior therapy combined. Alternative therapies--vitamins, herbs, vision therapy, and food supplements--do not seem to be beneficial. Ambalavanan, G; Holten, K.B. (2005, December). How Should We Evaluate and Treat ADHD in Children and Adolescents? Journal of Family Practice, 54(12). 1058-1059.

Article 3: Annotated Bibliographies from Professional Journals
The Journal explained three factors of cognitive developmental impairments for children with ADHD. It stated with the first point, which was the capacity for activating relevant information. There were many points that were very insightful the second main point was, the efficiency inhibiting irrelevant information. The third main point talked about the speed of processing. This was very factual and written very well. Johnson, Janice, et al. (February 2003). Development of Mental Attention in Gifted and Mainstream Children: The Role of Mental Capacity, Inhibition, and Speed of Processing. Child Development, 74,1594-1614.
