  • DOVIA Next Meeting Join us for our Annual Meeting Please mark your calendar and RSVP for our Annual Meeting on Monday, May 13th at The University of Akron.
    • When: Monday, May 13th, 2013 12pm-1pm
    • Where: University of Akron, Student Union, Ballroom A
    • This event is free for DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) Greater Akron members. The cost for non-members is $ 15.00 per person. Organizations may choose to sponsor the event for $ 150.00. All sponsorships receive a table of eight seats at the event.
    • Please send all RSVPs and luncheon payments to Angela Tetrick at tetricka@summahealth.org or DOVIA Greater Akron, PO Box 793, Akron, Ohio 44309. All RSVPs must be received by Monday, April 29th.

    • DOVIA Updates As most of you may know, DOVIA has undergone some changes in format and will be offering members some significant benefits which include:
      • Four regular business meetings with advance notice of the networking topics plus an annual meeting in the spring.
      • Two educational workshops each year focusing on topics in volunteer management.
      • Individual memberships with the option to send a fellow employee as your representative to regular meetings.
      • Two additional awards for peer-to-peer recognition: Volunteer Administrator of the Year Award and Creative Program Award.
      • An upgraded web site.
      • A simpler fee structure which enables organizations a one-time-only annual payment.
      • Sharing of current volunteer management ideas, policies, and recognition ideas.
      • Professional support through an active network of volunteer administrators from a wide variety of non-profit agencies

    The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is more than just a distribution center. We are many things to many people. We are a community resource, a lifeline, an educator and advocate, an emergency food provider and a source of hope to those in need.



    The mission of the Akron Civic Theatre is to provide a venue to present high quality entertainment for diverse audiences.The theater was built in 1929 by Marcus Loew and designed by famed theater architect, John Eberson.



    ACCESS is dedicated to addressing the plight of homeless women and children in our community. The agency encourages the development of self-esteem and the attainment of self-sufficiency through its commitment of providing a holistic, safe and supportive environment, and through its programs of housing, advocacy and empowerment.



    Our mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.



    In addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers compassionate services in five other areas: community services that help the needy; support and comfort for military members and their families; the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs.



    The Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem Program of Summit County Juvenile Court's mission is to provide every child with a trained community volunteer to advocate for what is in the child's "best interest" who enter the court system as a result of allegations of abuse, neglect or dependency.
