It’s our FIRST ANNUAL HOG ROAST fundraiser, September 30th at the Emswiler Farms Shelter House, 13197 Morse Road (map) (across from the Jersey Baptist Church), from noon to 6:00 p.m.!
A Friends of Captain Scott Buyers Group supported the Hartford Fair and local youth in August with the purchase of a market hog, and we hope you’ll come join us on the last Sunday in September, rain or shine, for barbeque and all the fixin’s! Bring your (outdoor) dancing shoes for the live music, because Marquis 66 will be delivering classic rock and Heavens to Betsy will be belting foot-stompin’ country music to keep you happy! There will be free kid-friendly activities, but bring your checkbook for the AUCTIONS — silent auction throughout the event and live auction by auctioneer Dwayne Braden starting at 5:00 pm (come early to get your bidder number).
Many local businesses and friends are donating their time and talents to help us raise money for the restoration of the Captain Scott House, which was slated for demolition but rescued and relocated to donated ground near the Village of Alexandria. If you’d like to help us spread the word about this event, print out this event flyer and put some out wherever you think people might be interested or hand them out to your friends and neighbors. Just please be sure to get permission before posting them at a business other than on their public events bulletin boards.
