EXAM REVIEW SCHEDULE

General Information:

1) These sessions are most effective when students have reviewed a little bit PRIOR to the session and come prepared.
2) Students need to bring EVERYTHING home with them on the following Fridays: 5/4/12, 5/11/12, 5/18/12, and 5/25/12!!!
3) Students need to bring their notebook/binder/book/folder etc. to the review session. Students will NOT be allowed to go to their locker.
4) Students should create a list of any topics or concepts that they are struggling with and bring this list with them to each study session they attend.
5) Unless noted otherwise below, all exam review sessions will be held in Room 253 in the Arts & Science Building. Students should enter through the Arcade doors.
6) There will be written Gym and Art Exams. Please make sure your students takes these seriously. The Gym Swimming Exam is especially difficult and students must study for it.
7) Any parent who would like to send in a snack, drink, cups or napkins to any session, this would be greatly appreciated.

Friday 5/11/12: 2:45-4:15pm Pre-Algebra/Algebra in ROOM 253.

There will be a pre-algebra and algebra I review simultaneously. For those unable to attend, there is a practice exam posted below. I would suggest your student work through the material and attend Help Nights over the next few weeks to seek assistance. My math sessions are typically heavy on kid participation. The kids work through the problems on paper while students take turns working them on the board.

Saturday 5/12/12: ** Due to the Entrance Exam administration at Walnut Hills this Saturday, Ascendo will NOT meet on Saturday 5/12/12.

*** To Make Up for missed Saturday Session** Monday 5/14/12: 3:00 -4:30 pm Latin in ROOM 253.

**To Make Up for missed Saturday Session** Thursday 5/17/12: 2:45-4pm Social Studies in Room 253

We will simultaneously conduct Latin I and II sessions.

Friday 5/18/12: 2:45-4:15pm Pre-Algebra/Algebra in ROOM 253.

Saturday 5/19/12: Social Studies 8th grade- 9:15-10:45 am, 7th grade- 11:00 am-12:35 pm in ROOM 253.

We will simultaneously conduct 7th and 8th grade sessions.

Sunday 5/20/12: 2:30-3:45pm English in ROOM 253.

We will simultaneously conduct 7th and 8th grade sessions. I need 8-10 parent volunteers for this sessions. Different teachers have different exams so it is most beneficial for the students to work in groups separated by teacher. I will provide all necessary materials to parent volunteers.

Sunday 5/20/12: 4:00-5:30 pm Science in ROOM 253.

We will simultaneously conduct 7th and 8th grade sessions. I will need parent volunteers to lead a review session for the 8th grade students. I will have the materials all you need to do is ask the questions. A couple of additional volunteers to help make photocopies and corral students would be great. Can’t volunteer? Would you like to provide a snack for this Sunday?

Monday 5/21/12: 2:45-4:15 pm Latin in ROOM 253.

Emily (Classics Major at UC) will lead Latin I and Michelle (Classics Major at UC) will lead Latin II. Please have your student review vocabulary and endings before the review. It will be most beneficial to come prepared with specific questions.

Tuesday 5/22/12: 2:45-4:15 pm Science in ROOM 253.

We will simultaneously conduct 7th and 8th grade sessions.

If you have any questions please let me know. Remind your student that it is critical they begin to work through all of the material from 1st and 2nd quarter. Study guides will not necessarily be provided right away. Many teachers feel students should already know what to prepare for as anything taught over the semester is a possible exam question. Have your student look through their planner to identify what chapters or lessons to review. If not, they could look at previous homework, tests, or quizzes. If they are still unsure, have them call a classmate or go to Help Night. Good Luck!

Please refer to this Exam Study Guide for detailed suggestions on how to approach studying for each subject. Remember - preparation should begin NOW!

If you missed the Jr. High Parent meeting regarding exams please refer to the 7th grade or 8th grade handouts that were presented and discussed.
