FAQs How can I help? Become a “Blanketeer!!" Make a blanket and give it to Project Linus. Get involved. Scouts, schools, religious organizations, senior centers, sewing guilds, and craft shops are all excellent places to find others interested in helping. You can have a blanket drive, raise money, or hold a day to make blankets. What type of blanket does Project Linus accept? All kinds: crocheted, knitted, quilted, fleece. You don’t have to be an expert. Blankets must be new, handmade, homemade, and washable. Elaborate or simple, they are all beautiful to a child. What about size? We donate to children newborn through age 18. Any blanket between preemie and a twin size comforter are accepted. Try to make them at least 30" by 30". Do the children keep the blankets? Yes, they are a gift for them to keep and take home. Do you take financial donations? Yes! What is the money used for? Typical expenses are: fabric, batting, yarn, other blanket making supplies, blanket labels, printing, office supplies, postage/shipping, accounting and auditing to name a few. Are the donations tax deductible? Generally, yes. Project Linus is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Please check with your tax professional for more information. Receipts are available upon request. Do you take donations of fabric and supplies? Yes. The fabric must be new, unused and free of contaminants such as mold, mildew and smoke. It should be cotton or cotton/poly blend. |
