 Kids Helping Kids
......HELPING COMFORT ANOTHER CHILD IN CRISIS WITH THE GIFT OF A BLANKET.
This is a wonderful project for schoolchildren, scout troops, birthday parties, religious organizations and individuals.
Decorate 8 1/2” cotton squares that are sewn into quilts by Project Linus volunteers.
SUPPLIES NEEDED TO CREATE DECORATED COTTON SQUARES:
**At least one 8½" fabric square for each child. One yard of GOOD QUALITY, 100% COTTON that is at least 36" wide yields 16-8½" inch squares.
**Fleece for backing, 1½ yards for each 15 squares made.
**Crayola Fabric Markers (NOT WASHABLE!) These can be found at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart or Jo-Ann Fabrics.
** Plain white paper as some children like to practice a design before drawing on the fabric. This paper should also be used under the fabric to protect the work surface.
WE HAVE A FABRIC EXCHANGE PROGRAM THAT WORKS AS FOLLOWS:
Decide how many squares you want to make and calculate the yardage needed. One yard of GOOD QUALITY, 100% COTTON that is at least 36" wide yields 16-8½" inch squares. You purchase the necessary amount of fabric and exchange it for the needed number of pre-cut squares from our chapter.
(Typically it takes 15 colored squares and 15 contrasting squares to make a blanket.)
