Edward J. Young Ph.D. ( - 1968)

Dr. Edward J. Young was respected around the world for his debth of research, his reading knowledge of thirty or more languages, and his faithful interpretation of th inerrent word of God. Dr. Young taught Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary from 1936 until his sudden death in 1968. He received a Th.B., a Th.M. from Westminster Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Dropsie College of Hebrew and Cognate Learning.

Patrick H. Young Ph.D.


Patrick Young received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Rio Grande in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry with minors in Organic and Physical Chemistry from Ohio University in 1984.

Dr. Young is a leading scientist whose work has included research on the material used in space-age applications and the bullet-proof vest. He was a senior research scientist and technical service manager at the DuPont Laboratories in Ohio.

Dr. Young is the holder of patents related to the process of the manufacture of Kevlar (which is used in bullet-resistant vests, for example) and Mylar (the magnetic tape in video casette recorders), with two other patents pending. His outstanding achievements have earned him awards and recognition, including being voted one of the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1989, and one of the Outstanding Young Men of Science in 1993. Dr. Young is a member of the American Chemical Society.

Randall Younker has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Master of Arts Degree, and a Ph.D. Dr. Younker is Associate Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology and Director of the Institute of Archaeology as well as Editorial Consultant for the Geoscience Research Institute.

Dr. Augusto Zimmerman was a Brazilian Law Professor at the Law faculty at Monash University, Australia and is now Law Lecturer at Murdoch University, Western Australia. Among other positions, Dr. Zimmerman has been Law Professor at the Research and Postgraduate Law Department (N.P.P.G.) of Bennett Methodist University and at Estacio de Sa University in Rio de Janeiro.

Zimmerman received a L.L.B.(a Bachelor of Law Degree) from Pontifical Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, a L.L.M. (a Master of Law Degree) cum laude (with honors), Pontifical Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, and a Ph.D. from Monash University, Australia.

Dr. Zimmerman is a member of the editorial board of Achegas, a prestigious Brazilian journal of political science, and Lumen Juris, a leading lawbook publisher in Brazil. He has published a number of academic works in several languages, and is the author of two well-known books in Brazil.

Dr. Lester John Zimmerman received his Ph.D. from Purdue University and is Professor of Agriculture and Mathematics at Goshen College.

Paul A. Zimmerman Ph.D,L.L.D.,D.Div. (June 25, 1918 - )

Paul Zimmerman was born in Danville, Illinois and was later a graduate of Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana (1939), and of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri (B.A., 1941; BD., 1944, M.Div., 1944 and a D.Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois). He received his Master of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1947 and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the same institution in 1951.

Befor coming to Ann Arbor, Dr. Zimmerman was professor of science and religion (theology)at Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minnesota from 1944 to 1953. He also served as professor of science and religion at Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska. In 1954, he became president of that institution and served until coming to Michigan in 1961. He became the first president of Concordia Lutheran Junior College, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1961; it opened in 1963 and served there until 1973. Zimmerman served as President at Concordia College, River Forest, Illinois since 1973 until 1983.

Dr. Zimmerman was particularly interested in problems involving the relationship of science with the Bible. He has had many contributions to scientific publications including the Journal of the American Chemical Society, as well as in The Concordia Theological Monthly, The Lutheran Witness, Lutheran Education, the Cresset and was editor of Rock Strata and the Bible Record. He had various seminars, lectures and television appearances including the Phil Donahue Show on science and the Bible.

Edward Zinke was President of Ann's House of Nuts in Jessup, Maryland and was former President of the Adventist Theological Society, and doctoral candidate at Catholic University.

John Frederick Zino Ph.D.

Dr. John Zino received a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Merlin Wayne Zook Ph.D.

Dr. Merlin Wayne Zook was a Meteorologist and has a degree from Goshen College (1959), where his specialty was physical science and graduated with a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, majoring in Synoptic Meteorology. He is a specialist in Air Pollution.

Henry A. Zuill Ph.D.

Henry A. Zuill received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Atlantic Union College in 1957, a Master of Arts Degree in Biology from Loma Linda University in 1967, and a Ph.D. in Biology from Loma Linda University in 1973. He was Emeritus Professor of Biology at Union College, Nebraska since 1989. He was a Curator of the Joahua C. Turnew Arboretum, an affiliate of Nebraska Statewide Arboretum.

Dr. Zuill was born in Bermuda and grew up there. He has been especially interested in tropical ecology and in science and religion. His tropical interests took him to both Mexico and Puerto Rico as part of his teaching career. He recently retired from teaching as a Professor of Biology at Union Springs College in Lincoln, Nebraska.
