Lion Freda Wagner has been a member of the Mad River Lions Club since April 1999. Lion Freda has been Tail Twister 2 years; 3rd, 2nd and 1st Vice President; President; and on the Board of Directors for 2 years. Lion Freda also was Zone 2 Chairman for 2 years for District 13H.

Lion Freda reinstituted the Peace Poster Contest in the Mad River Schools. Lion Freda has been very active in all club projects. She has been Chairman for Project Share (Christmas for the Needy) for 10 years and received a state award for this project in 2004-05. Lion Freda received Lion of the Year in 2004-05 from the Mad River Club. She also received the District Governor Award in 2004-05; the Council Chairman’s Award of Excellence in 2004-05; District Zone 2 Lion of the Year in 2004-05; and Council of Governor’s Award in 2005-06 and 2009-10. She was recognized for her work from the District Governor in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Lion Freda has had 11 years of perfect attendance in her Lions Club. She has sponsored 12 new members.

Lion Freda graduated from Fleming County High School, Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She has been a Cub and Boy Scout Leader; President of Pee Wee Football for 2 years in Kentucky; Sunday School teacher; involved in all youth sports for her children; and Chapter Mother of FHA for 4 years. After her grandchildren came along, she volunteered at Brantwood Elementary school and was President of Pee Wee Football for 4 years in Mad River. Lion Freda was a nursing assistant for 20 years and a Kentucky registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She also worked in Corrections for six years as Deputy Jailer.

Lion Freda has been married to her husband, Charles (Buck), for 53 years. She is the proud mother of 3 children, Joe, Lydia and Marty (deceased). They have 8 grandchildren, Jon, Rachelle, Chris, Jason, Jeremy, Richelle, Brittany, and Kirstie. They have 9 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Haley, Adalyn, Hannah, Noah, Abbi, Haidyn, Travis and Gavin.

Lion Freda enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling and taking care of Haley. She is very proud that her family is involved in Lions.
