Passport to Forever
The 8th annual Passport to Forever to benefit the Cincinnati
Children's Hospital Medical Center's International Adoption Center
will be held, Saturday, September 13th at the Schiff Center on the
Xavier University campus.
The cocktail reception and silent auction begin at 6:30 pm and the
dinner and program begin at 8:00 pm. This year's featured speaker is
Melissa Fay Greene who is an award-winning journalist and advocate
for internationally adopted children. She and her husband are
parents to nine children - 4 bio and 5 internationally adopted (1
from Bulgaria and 4 from Ethiopia). She is the author of the widely
acclaimed book "There is No Me Without You." Following Ms. Greene's
presentation, there will be a fashion show featuring internationally
adopted children who have used the services of the International
Adoption Center. There will also be a live auction.
This is the only major fundraiser for the International Adoption
Center. If you would like additional information, please visit
www.passporttoforever.com or contact Cara Cross at 513-636-5647 or cara.cross@cchmc.org
.
Shelli Giess Personal Note: My youngest is on the invitation this year and my
oldest son was in the fashion show 2 years ago. This is a very nice
event. Last year we had nearly 600 people attend. There is also a
raffle that you can request tickets for (Passport to Bengal Fever) if
you're a Bengals fan. We can't make it this year, but will
definitely be buying raffle tickets.

I would like everyone (from everywhere!) to come for a picnic on
Saturday, August 23th from 3 pm to whenever.
We have a small swingset, a trampoline, and a waterslide... so bring
a towel and a suit.
I'll assign you a side dish to bring after you RSVP

** International Adoption Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital
Medical Center is holding its 2nd annual Family Picnic **
Sunday, June 22nd at Keener Park in West Chester, OH (about 20 miles north of Cincinnati) from 1-5 pm. The cost is $20 per family and registration is required by June 2nd.
This is a great event for pre and post adoptive families to meet with other families who've used the services of the IAC. Dr. Staat and her staff always attend (including Kelly Hicks the IAC nurse practioner and Carrie Johnston, LSW the clinic's social worker).
The kids love it! There is a clown and her "circus" this year.
Lunch is served at 2:00 (KFC Chicken) and each family is asked to
provde a side or desert. It's a great chance for kids to mingle with other IA kids and parents to network.
You can e-mail Shelli Giess to get a copy of the e-mail or contact
Barbee Sjodahl at the IAC for more info or by calling 513-636-2877 option 2.
