My official registered charter name means exactly that.
The first requirement for being a chapter member is to have a fun attitude.

This chapters goal is to only to have interested ladies involved that want to spend time together and enjoy red hatting, friendship and sisterhood. Each member should want the enjoyment and camaraderie of belonging to a wonderful, pro-woman organization.

After realizing how much fun a girl could have belonging to the Red Hat Society, I became a member in a local chapter and then decided to break away and founded my own chapter in September 2004.

Wearing red hats and purple clothes is the official “uniform” for all events unless otherwise designated by the Queen. The color red symbolizes happiness. If you don’t want to wear a red hat than you really don’t want to become a red hatter.

At least once a year, each individual Fun Attitude member must take sole responsibility for signing up for an activity. Activities may include picnics, lunches, brunches, dinners, day trips, places of interest- anything that would be fun and interesting.

Things about the RHS you may not know!!!

1. Did you know that the Kazoo is the official instrument of the RHS!
2. Did you know shopping is the official sport of the RHS!
3. (and wine is the official drink for Fun Attitudes)

  Guests at Fun Attitude Events:

Members may bring guests to Fun Attitude events with the permission of the Queen or the hostess of the month. There may be occasions when the size of the group must be limited so the hostess must be contacted before a guest is invited. It is the responsibility of the member bringing the guest to explain to her that she will not be able to join the Fun Attitudes since our chapter is closed. Occasional openings may be filled with friends of members but contact Queen Judie to determine whether or not there are openings. A guest may only attend three events in one year no matter who brings that guest. In other words, a guest may not come three times as one members guest and three more times as another members guest. Since our chapter began in September, Fun Attitudes year runs from September of one year to the end of August of the next year. In the event that there is an opening, a prospective member must attend three events before being considered for membership. After that she and Queen Judie will review these guidelines and determine whether or not she and the Fun Attitudes are a good match.

WHO WE ARE

The Red Hat Society has become the international society dedicated to reshaping the way women are viewed in today's culture. RHS supports and encourages women to pursue fun, friendship, freedom, fulfillment of lifelong dreams and fitness. It serves as the center point for all communications and opportunities for its members offering tools, tips, discounts, services and events specifically with Red Hatters in mind. The Red Hat Society has spent over a decade developing a strong online communication tool for Members assisting them in gaining new and exciting ways to enjoy life, sharing their unique and motivating stories and helping Members find local hatters and activities they can participate in. Women over age 50 are known as "Red Hatters," while those under 50 are lovingly referred to as "Pink Hatters."

How to play a Kazoo~

Hum into the large opening of the kazoo. (Don’t blow, just hum.)
The sound comes out the top
The extra air goes out the small end of the kazoo or the “trumpet” end, if you have one of those “fancy-dancy” kazoos.
If you don’t get a sound, try saying a word like “who” in the kazoo.

Red Hat Society Prayer

Loving Creator,
In your extravagance you have painted
the world with bold strokes and gloried in our differences.
When colors proclaim our uniqueness,
let our little eccentricities be expressions of our joy for living.
When our time together looks like a costume party,
let our gatherings be a time of genuine community.
Out of the abundance of your grace,
you have set before us only a small portion of your gifts:
time
color
food
and compassion.
Bless our time.
Bless our joyful celebration of creative life.
And bless both the food we share
and those who labored so we might enjoy it.
Most of all, use us:
our flamboyance, our joy and our sharing
that we may be a blessing to all we meet.
Amen.

Pastor of Iao Congregational Church
