Our History
Loving Touch Ministries was developed through a vision that the Lord gave me in July of 2003. A month later, the Lord spoke to me in my dreams telling me that “the provisions have been made”. That same day he lead me to Psalms 132:15. In February of 2004, the Lord led me to Deuteronomy 15:11 which explained what my husband and I have been called to do for the up building of his kingdom. With the support of my husband Torrey, our ministry has touched the lives of many people.
We began walking through the streets of Columbus aiding to homeless men, women, and children by providing them with meals, care packages, undergarments, blankets, and seasonal clothing. In 2004, the organization expanded the idea of serving those on the streets and broaden the vision to also providing supportive services to the local shelters with bedding, boxed meals, and bulk personal hygiene supplies.
After the closing of Open Shelter Inc.,(the first shelter we committed ourselves too) we decided to make a monthly commitment with Friends of the Homeless Shelter by providing over two-hundred boxed meals every first Saturday of each month. After we completed our commitment, we would go to the YWCA Interfaith Hospitality Center for Homeless Families and distribute boxed meals, care packages, seasonal clothing, and undergarments to the men, women, and children.
LT Ministries averages anywhere from fifteen to twenty-two volunteers to assist us in the process of each outing. From the preparation of each mission to walking the streets throughout the city, each person help meet the physical needs of so many individuals. Through faith we believe that many seeds were planted, and in due season we all shall reap a great and plentiful harvest.
In 2006, we decided to changed the name from Loving Touch Ministries to Loving Touch Ministries Outreach Center in an effort to form a "Safe Haven" to individuals, youth, and their families as well as a Resource Center for the entire community. |
