Cub Scouts is a family oriented group for boys in grades 1 to 5. Scouts work on completing achievements based on their age level. There is a book for each level or rank.
A ’DEN’ is a group of boys in the same grade.
First Grade boys are the TIGER den.
Second grade boys are the WOLF den.
Third grade boys are the BEAR den.
Fourth grade boys are the Webelos I den.
Fifth grade boys are the Webelos II den.
Dens meet at least once a month, sometimes twice. Dens are run by a parent(s) of the boys. Den leaders try to pick a night/time that works for most of the scouts.
The ‘PACK’ (All dens grade 1-5) meets once a month, usually the third Thursday of the month except when there is a scheduling conflict. The meetings are held in the Gym at Leroy school. The pack meeting is a mixture of information about upcoming events, scout activities - including skits, derbies and ceremonies, games and/or a craft for boys and siblings and refreshments to finish off the meeting. We welcome any parents who would like to help at the pack meetings, whether that’s running a game, helping with the craft or serving the refreshments.
We have one fund raiser, our popcorn sale which will begin Sept 11. 2009. Scouts are encouraged to try selling popcorn. The boys can earn free membership dues if they sell a certain amount.
We also have a Halloween Hayride, Sunday hikes in local parks, fishing outings, a summer picnic, a land lab clean-up day, a summer family campout and a week-long Day Camp that scouts can attend each summer.
