On Monday, April 27, 2015, the LWV of Trumbull County met at the Cortland Public Library.

Michael j. O'Brien, State Representative for the Ohio 64th District will be the featured speaker. He will present State Issues and the sales tax.

The meeting is free and open to the public. The meeting will be held at the Cortland Public Library at 578 Lakeview Drive starting at 6 pm.

 
Warren Soup Lets You Vote to Reward Local Projects 

Warren SOUP will hold its next micro-finance dinner on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. SOUP provides micro-funding for creative local projects that will have a positive impact on the City of Warren. The event will be held on the second floor of the Artisan Café located at 410 South Main Street, Warren.

Warren SOUP is organized by a committee of local residents with a passion for social change. SOUP is a public dinner of soup, salad, and bread for only $5. Tickets are sold at the door, no advance sales or reservations necessary. SOUP event are held, at minimum, once every quarter. Diners will hear presentations from no more than four local groups seeking funding for their projects and have the opportunity to ask a few questions before voting for their favorite project. The winner will be announced at the end of the evening and they will receive the money raised from the Warren SOUP event that night. Warren SOUP winners will attend future SOUPs to share their project's progress. The November SOUP raised $838, which was awarded to the Second Chance Exposure League.

Register to Vote All voters must be registered by April 6, 2015 by 9:00 p.m. to vote in the May 5, 2015 Primary Election

 WANTED: Volunteers for Law Week Tours
The Trumbull County Bar Association, with the assistance of the League of Women Voters of Trumbull County and the Trumbull County Bar Auxiliary are again planning tours for Trumbull County high school students as part of Law Week celebrations. Volunteer tour guides are needed to escort the students to the Trumbull County Courthouse, Prosecutor's Office, Family/Juvenile Court Center and Warren Municipal Court. Students observe trials, tour the Juvenile Detention Center and learn about government and the law.

Each volunteer tour guide will have a group up to 25 students. Tours begin at 9 am and conclude at 11:45 am at the Courthouse. Tours are scheduled Monday through Thursday April 20 through 23 and Monday through Thursday April 27 through 30.

LWV of Trumbull County General Information
The League of Women Voters of Trumbull County is a nonpartisan political organization, which encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The League neither supports or opposes any political party or candidate. Membership is open to any person interested in educating oneself in or volunteering oneself in the community as representatives of the League of Women Voters.

 
All membership meetings are open to the public and meet on the 4th Monday of the month at different locations in the county. All meeting locations and times are published on our website and in all local medias, as well as on our FACEBOOK page at "LWV of Trumbull County, Ohio".

Your membership in the LWV of Trumbull County automatically gives you membership in the State League (LWV of Ohio) as well as the National League (LWV of the United States).

Local Affiliations of LWVTC
The LWV of Trumbull County holds membership in the following local organizations:

Trumbull County Township Association - Local government organization which is a part of the Ohio Township Association, a statewide organization dedicated to promoting and preserving township government in Ohio, through lobbying efforts and educational forums. The Association was founded on June 28, 1928, and is organized in 87 Ohio counties. The OTA has more than 5,200 active members, made up of trustees and fiscal officers from Ohio's 1,308 townships, and more than 4,000 associate members. comprised of township trustees, fiscal officers and various supporters.

GFWC Warren City Federation of Women's Clubs - The purpose of the Warren City Federation of Women's Clubs is to promote civic welfare through united club efforts and to afford facilities for helpful interchange of ideas and club programs, and to perpetuate and to advance the work of the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs and General Federation of Women's Clubs.

Member Clubs include: Altrusa, American Association of University Women - Trumbull County, American Sewing Guild - Niles Chapter,Fifth Wheel, League of Women Voters of Trumbull County, St. Joseph Health Center Auxiliary, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, Trumbull County Federation of Democratic Women, Trumbull Mobile Meals, Trumbull New Theater Women's Committee, Trumbull Travel Club, Warren Auxiliary VFW 1090, Warren Civic League, GFWC OHIO Warren Junior Women's League, Warren Republican Women's Club, Warren Women's Club and Upton Association.

Trumbull County Federation of Women's Clubs

The object of this organization shall be to bring the Women’s Organizations of the county into closer touch with one another for the furtherance of any good cause, which may be of common interest. Member clubs are: Altrusa International; Fowler Civic Club, Kinsman Bay View Club, LWV of Trumbull County, Masury-Brookfield Women’s Club, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, TNT Women’s Committee, Trumbull Co. Federation of Democratic Women, The Upton Association, GFWC Warren City Federation of Women’s Clubs, GFWC Ohio Warren Jr. Women’s League, Warren Republican Women’s Club, and Warren Women’s Club
