LWVTC to be Honored by A. Philip Randolph Institute, Trumbull County Chapter 

The LWV of Trumbull County will be receiving a "Community Service Award" on January 14, 2012.

The LWV of Trumbull County was chosen by A. Philip Randolph Institute, Trumbull County Chapter to be the recipient of this award at their Annual Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Building Character Through Education" is the theme of this year's event. Dr. Bruce W. Thomas, Superintendent of Warren City Schools will be the keynote speaker.

The event begins at 3:00 pm and will be held at DiVieste's Banquet Hall, 754 N. River Rd., Warren, Ohio.

Ticket costs are $25 for adults and $15 for children and includes a buffet dinner. For tickets or further information, contact Sonya Carter at 330-716-0836.

Public Official's Reception/Luncheon

Annually, the League of Women Voters of Trumbull County invite various elected officials to a Public Official's Reception. This event gives League members and elected officials an opportunity to meet one-on-one in an informal setting and listen to what our lawmakers hope to accomplish in the coming year.

The elected officials are allotted several minutes for a formal address to the audience.

This event is not for the media or for the general public and is by invitation only or as a guest of a current LWV of Trumbull County member.

The event will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at noon at Cafe 422. Registration and social time begins at 11:30 a.m.

 

The event this year will be a luncheon and attendees will have their choice of White Fish, Eggplant Parmesan or Chicken Marsala.

Paid reservations for this event are required. The cost is $20.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Edwina Wolcott, Chairperson at 330-550-8171.

Reservation deadline is Monday, January 9, 2012.

 

Local Affiliations of LWVTC
The LWV of Trumbull County holds membership in the following local organizations:

Trumbull County Township Association - Local government organization which is a part of the Ohio Township Association, a statewide organization dedicated to promoting and preserving township government in Ohio, through lobbying efforts and educational forums. The Association was founded on June 28, 1928, and is organized in 87 Ohio counties. The OTA has more than 5,200 active members, made up of trustees and fiscal officers from Ohio's 1,308 townships, and more than 4,000 associate members. comprised of township trustees, fiscal officers and various supporters.

Warren City Federation of Women's Clubs - The purpose of the Warren City Federation of Women's Clubs is to promote civic welfare through united club efforts and to afford facilities for helpful interchange of ideas and club programs, and to perpetuate and to advance the work of the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs and General Federation of Women's Clubs.

Member Clubs include: Altrusa, American Association of University Women, Beth Israel Sisterhood, Warren Emblem Club, Fifth Wheel, League of Women Voters of Trumbull County, St. Joseph Health Center Auxiliary, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, Trumbull County Federation of Democratic Women, Trumbull Mobile Meals, Trumbull New Theater Women's Committee, Upton Association, Warren Auxiliary VFW 1090, Warren Civic League, Warren Junior Women's League, Warren Republican Women's Club, Warren Women's Club and Upton Association.
