Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 227. We are a small pack of Cub Scouts that are chartered by the Millersport PTO. During the school year we have Den Meetings every Wednesday at the Millersport Elementary School from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.. We hold our pack meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month in the cafeteria. Our pack has made many changes in the past six months, changes for the good of everyone involved. In the past some things have run a little differently than they are today. Most of us are fairly new to this level of scouting but I assure you we are trying our best to get this pack turned around. I can't promise there won't be a bump in the road here and there, but working together we'll get them smoothed out as quickly as possible. FUNDRAISING The boys each have individual "boy accounts" that their fundraising money goes into. This money can be saved and used for any scouting activity they choose. This also pays for all their patches and awards. if a scout does not participate in a fundraiser, then no money will go into their account. we want to help reinforce that it takes hard work to raise money and to teach them to pay their own way. The more money they work for, the less out of pocket expenses there are for the parents. Lori is our treasurer and we have an open book policy, you are entitled to see the financial records at all times and also the account information for your scout. One exception is the fundraising we do for the Relay For Life. This event is our big "give back to the community event". Unfortunately cancer has affected us all in one way or another and we would like to do our part in helping find a cure. We will do several fundraising events for this cause, we will receive no money from this, 100% of our earnings will go directly to The American Cancer Society. You will know in advance as to what fundraising events this applies to. We all understand that in a small town most kids are involved in more than one activity, that's great! Each den leader is more than willing to plan things around the other activities, most of our scouts are in other activities also, so it's really not a problem. Come to the meetings when you can, and keep in touch when you can't. There are many activities in the book that need to be completed at home with the scout's family, work on these and let us know of your progress. Hopefully having the website will make it easier for the scouts, leaders and parents to know what is going on and open up communication between everyone. Class A Uniforms can be purchased at Ohio Valley Outdoors in Lancaster, across from Meijers. Everything from Cub Scout hats to Cub Scout socks are available if you want. We ask that you get the shirt, neckerchief & slide, and belt fot the belt loops they will earn. The hat is optional, if yor child will not wear hats there is no point in spending the money on one. They do not have to purchase "scout pants", any dark blue pants or shorts are fine. The neckerchiefs, slides,den numbers, hats and books go by what rank he is currently at, everything else is the same. The following is a list of needed uniform items with the most current prices I have. You do not have to get these all at once, get them as you can. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Class B uniforms are dark blue t-shirts that the pack had made up at Lancaster Sporting goods. If enough people are interested in ordering them we will put in an order. They charge a 20.00 art fee, the pack will pay this if there are quite a few shirts being ordered. Last spring they cost us 6.00 each, up to size XL and 1.00 for each additional x. These are nice for the adults as well as the kids to wear to more relaxed events. If you are interested let me know.
