WELCOME TO OVCEA

Our organization was formed in January 1999 and Dave Snyder, Pastor of Beverly Baptist Church in Beverly, Ohio, was elected Director. Since we organized, we have had our display at local fairs and flea markets, we have been to Answers in Genesis seminars as well as one for the Institute for Creation Research (ICR), our display has been set up at meetings of local organizations, we have sponsored various half day seminars in the Marietta area, and we have spoken at churches in our area. We have increased from less than a dozen members at our inception to a mailing list of nearly 300 "Friends of OVCEA". We hope to continue making our presence known in the valley and welcome all who share our concerns regarding the Creation/evolution dispute. Our purpose is to educate the public by making available information which will help clarify the question of origins for them.

CREATION OR EVOLUTION?

WHY A CREATION EDUCATION ASSOCIATION?

The purpose of OVCEA is to serve as a voice and resource assisting the public in acquaintance with, and understanding of, the evidence that suggests Special Creation as opposed to Darwinian or Neo-Darwinian Evolution as the correct theory explaining the origin and diversity of life. OVCEA believes the Bible is the infallible record of origins events.

OVCEA will seek to serve the public in the following ways:

  • Provide and staff an exhibit/display with free materials for area fairs, trade shows and
misc. events--available for use by likeminded individuals across the OVCEA network.
  • Provide no-cost/low cost trained speakers for area churches and groups.
  • Provide free quarterly meetings - forums - and conferences for training and self education - with guest speakers.
  • Encourage placement of creationist publications in local libraries.
  • Maintain a resource list of creationist web sites, publications and topical information sheets.
  • Maintain a lending library for area pastors, teachers, and OVCEA Friends.
  • Publish a free quarterly newsletter on current Creation/Evolution issues.
  • Submit editorial articles/letters to local newspapers.
  • Sponsor/coordinate local/regional conferences, debates involving such groups as ICR and AIG.
  • Encourage the establishment of Creation Clubs in schools and churches.
  • Network with other creationist organizations.
  • Maintain the OVCEA web site.
  • Produce a monthly newspaper column.
  • Offer materials at significant discounts.
WHO IS OVCEA?
A volunteer association of fellow citizens, lay and professional, throughout the Ohio Valley region since 1999 who advocate, as the correct understanding of the origin of life and diversity, Special Creation by the Divine Creator.

Individuals comprising OVCEA suggest a young Earth model and further propose the available data affirms a sudden appearance of life and matter as clearly outlined in the biblical record of a six day Creation, several thousand years ago.

OVCEA does not promote a particular denomination, but does affirm the biblical record concerning the Triune God as Creator, Savior, and Lord, exalting Jesus Christ the Son of God, whom to know, and through whom alone, is eternal life.

OVCEA is not officially linked to any other group or creationist organization; is autonomous, but does cooperate with like-minded groups.

OVCEA has a Director and Secretary/Treasurer, and an Advisory Board (Trustees) elected every two years, all of which are volunteer. Officers receive no remuneration for services.

OVCEA 2001-2003 Officers include:
Director - David L. Snyder, Beverly, OH
Secretary/Treasurer - Curtis Goins, Waterford, OH

Bobby O'Connor - Charlotte, NC
