Ski trip 08 lodge

'Annual Ski Trip

We had a fantastic day at Holiday Valley ski area. Most Scouts had never been to a ski resort before. Almost all the new skiers/ snowboarders took a group lesson, and that introduced them to the sport. At least two of our guys who tried snowboarding decided never to do that again, and one didn't even want to go back out for the afternoon. Ski Trip 08

Thanks to Colleen Crook and Christy Tull for organizing the food; to Paul Steffen our intrepid Camping Chair for arranging all the little details, and to all the adults who came on the trip and helped by just being there and sharing scouting fun. Thanks to Jack Giljahn for running the Snow Sports Merit Badge.

Drew Frank's Eagle Project

Drew drew up some ambitious plans to recreate the original trail deep into the property.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

As you can see from the last picture even the deer use this trail now!

After our successful Garage Sale/Fundraiser as a Troop we went to Fort Rapids Water Park here in town.

Some people had the most fun helping others stay wet!

The AT crew

The older section of the Troop led by 'Iron Chef' & 'Less Laundry', (O.K., the Scouts over 14), hiked part of the Appalachian Trail. Some of the guys that went with "Dr. Cabela", 'Burrito Meat', 'Fish + Chips', and 'G-Dogg w/Special Sauce'. (There seems to be a theme with these tags. Ask'em about it!) Hiker X rounded out the "Appalachian Troop"

"Where were we again!????

Meanwhile, back in Ohio, Mrs. Mohr, Mr. Herbster and several other indispensable adults led our 14 and under Scouts on their own, (Yes, they "owned" it), High-Adventure Hiking/Camping/Canoeing/Swimming Campout.

The High-Adventure Lite Patrol had to crawl before they could Hike !

We'll let the pictures and personal stories of these two events unfold as the details are revealed.

Start from here

Actually two campouts in one, the older Scouts went on the ten mile uphill trek, camped, and then hiked back the base camp the younger guys maintained. Not to be outdone those on the day hike reportedly walked nearly as far in one day as the overnight group did in two!

Everyone helped each other have a good time

Operation Flag

Each year on the Saturday before Memorial Day we, as a Troop, honor our fallen Veterans by erecting a flag and saluting graveside.
