CONTINUING SERVICES

  • MULTI COUNTY RESOURCE CENTER FOR SCHOOLS COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS AND PARENTS WILL CONTINUE TO EXIST. PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS WILL REMAIN AT FIRST UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST AT 201 FAIR AVE. NW NEW PHILA.
  • PARENT RESOURCE MATERIALS WILL BE AWARDED TO COAD. FURTHER DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AS AVAILABLE.

    Possible idicators of autism
    • Does not babble, point, or make meaningful gestures by 1 year of age
    • Does not speak one word by 16 months
    • Does not combine two words by 2 years of age
    • Loses language or social skills


      REMEMBER EARLY INTERVENTION IS KEY FOR SUCCESS!
     
    Communicating with people with Autism

    • Speak slowly and clearly, and don't expect an immediate response
    • Communicate using visuals
    • Use concrete examples and demonstrate behaviors expected
    • Give lots of praise
    • Don't force eye contact or touch
    • Inform in advance of changes in routines
    • Pay attention to non-verbal signals
