THE BUILDING IS FINISHED!

Yes, the building IS finished, and we have the permit to occupy.

We do have some details to work out but we are making real progress. In getting ready to occupy the building, two actions were taken at our 11/14 business meeting.
1.) The Nominating Committee was asked to nominate a committee to establish rules for the use of the building, and
2.) The Committee was also asked to nominate a committee to draw up a "purpose statement".

We must have rules which will regulate the use of our new building. After all, we cannot have it being used in a haphazard fashion with no regard for its treatment and care. The purpose statement should define our purpose and reason for building a multi-purpose structure in the first place. It probably should include what we hope to accomplish in the place the Lord has given us.

In occupying the building, we will be faced with a situation or situations with which most of us have never dealt before. Hopefully, we will have various groups (in our Chapel and perhaps from outside) seeking to use the building and we must not let this cause any dissension among us. While we must all work together with the understanding that the building belongs to the Lord and we all must have opportunities to use it, we at Victory Baptist Chapel must assume the role of steward and accept the responsibility for its care. Total cooperation will be required if we are to make the best use of the building and glorify the Lord.

WASHINGTON AT VALLEY FORGE

PRAISE THE LORD AND GIVE THANKS, AMERICA

Folks, this project (the actual work) has been under way since the first dirt was moved on 4/9/01. The planning for much longer than that. Counting to 1/9/02 when we got our permit to occupy, it has been 9 months that we have been at the task of getting our new Multi-use Worship Center up and ready for the work that the Lord has for us. We have had some disappointments, some disagreements and even some arguments (remember that Pastor Darrell told us we would have them).

We have all had times when we experienced frustrations, and we may have even come to the point of wanting to just throw up our hands and quit (I know I did). BUT AREN'T WE GLAD THAT WE DID NOT QUIT!!

Personally speaking, I would be utterly miserable right now if, after 8 years of planning and waiting, plus all the work already put into the project, I had let myself get so upset that I just quit. To see this beautiful building which our great God has given us on this wonderful piece of property, and to have to look back at how I had let the devil get me to give up would be perhaps the most regrettable thing I could ever have done, probably in my entire life.

We will still have disagreements and experience frustrations because just as the Lord is not finished with us, Satan has not finished either. The devil still wants to stop the work God has for us, and he would love to destroy us as a witness in this area.

We cannot and must not allow him to succeed!

Let's all determine that we are going to work together and see that we are loving and forgiving toward the community and each other, so that we can be the light in St. Clairsville that God wants us to be.

(and especially St. Clairsville)

Is our new sign not beautiful?

Here is the flip side

And how do you like this?

The St. Clairsville Chamber of Commerce has notified us that Victory Baptist Chapel has been advised that "We (CofC) believe that businesses that have made an improvement at some point to the outward appearance of the St. Clairsville area deserve to be recognized". An award will be made at the Chamber's luncheon on 9/17 at the Belmont Hills Country Club, and we plan to have 8 - 10 in attendance. Victory Baptist Chapel certainly appreciates this recognition by the Chamber, and we pray that Jesus Christ will be glorified through it.

Now that we have occupied the building, some of us feel like celebrating with the frog here:

(We feel like dancing)

And then we will follow the example of the fella below from about the middle of December til spring. It is called hibernation.

(Then we'll feel like sleeping)

JUST A REMINDER, THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED, OUR CHALLENGE TO BUILD KICKOFF DINNER DECEMBER 7TH 1997, NOW THE PROJECT IS FINISHED.

On the cold and wintry night of December 7th 1997, we met to kick off the Challenge to Build Fund Raising Campaign for our new building. (From 12/7/97 to 1/9/02--that's 4 years, 1 month and 2 days. That is what it took us to raise over 100,000 dollars, put up the building and get the permit to occupy!! (I think that is pretty good, folks!) Although the night was certainly not conducive to travel, we had folks from as far away as Columbus with us that night. Our goals had been set at $ 75,000.00 as the Challenge goal, $ 100,000.00 as the Victory goal, and $ 125,000.00 as the Hallelujah goal. By the end of the evening we had commitments and donations which met the Challenge goal, and we expected to exceed that goal over the three year term of our commitments.
